A: The blade configurations are different. In other words, one system may not be used with the other.

50 amp 125 volt is a 3 wire system (1 hot wire, 1 neutral, 1 ground).

50 amp 125/250 volt is a 4 wire system (2 hot wires, 1 neutral, 1 ground).

I would buy this product again

My boat requires two 30 amp electrical power supplies. This product makes tie in easy and pretty much bullet proof.

I contacted the manufacturer for help and they just sent me a RMA. I am still trying to get it to work. There are no problems with the boats electrical system.

Questions

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: null I just got one of these for Christmas, but I am not sure if it is the correct one for my required use. My boat has two thirty amp boat side plug in's. One designated to the A/C only and the other for everything else. I want to plug in 2, 30 amp cords at the boat and then at the shore power end plug them into this adapter with the 50 amp side of the adapter plugging in at the docks 50 amp shore power. My Y connection being at the dockside and not at the boat side. I would not use two 30 amp cords no 50 amp cord just the adapter. Based on this did I get the right connector? Part number 153AY?

A: The next to the last sentence in your question is a little garbled, but I believe I'm using my Y connector exactly as you want to. I plug the 50 amp plug into the power pedestal and hook 2 30 amp cords from the boat to the 2 30 amp female connections in the Y. It works great. I also recommend that you use the locking rings on the 30 amp side that come with the Y connector to keep your connections tight and prevent overheating.

A: That was exactly my need as well. The Marinco Y Adaptor 2-30A to 50A did the trick. It's been powering my boat for about a year. Regards, Rick
