I purchased this stem eye from JD because I was unable to find it at any of my usual supply outlets. I would have preferred to get it in bronze to match the other hardware on my new boat but bronze has largely become unobtainium for what used to be common hardware. A major consideration was that the legs were long enough to allow both the backing plates and the nuts to be installed when the hardware is in place. Although price was not a consideration here, this piece was less expensive than a similar piece with shorter legs from the local branch of a national chain.
