I love this stuff. You need to do your homework, watch videos, read the data sheets and learn before you begin because VARNISH IS NOT PAINT. It is different and you have to work it differently. Once you get the hang of it you'll never go back to plastic, especially on classic boats that need that "old school" look and aura that makes this stuff so special.
Yes, I recommend this product.

The product itself seems very good but out of 4 cans purchased 2 have failed after about 10 seconds of use. Buy with caution.

Excellent Product

Used to finish a bathroom vanity. Multiple thin coats & lite sanding between coats produced exceptional results. JD shipped my order quickly and without damage.

1015 on door

Used to protect front door on residence. Used Ultra in the past with good results. Chose 1015 this time because of customer reviews, available pint container and better cost. Application went well. No time will tell on durability.

I would buy this product again.

I use this product to varnish/waterproof my natural wood garage door. Since using this product, I only have to strip and redo my garage door every 6-7 years, compared to every 3-4 years when using a big box store varnish.

Went on beautifully, looks like the can will last for several projects. Time will tell how well it lasts.

Handy in a rattle can
I've used Captains varnish on the boats I've built and restored for many years. It's easy to apply, builds well and looks fantastic. For my recent project though, I veneered the dashboard panel, console parts and ashtray with redwood burl veneer for a 1964 Studebaker Avanti which is being restored. I used a small compressed air automotive paint sprayer for the first 5 coats, which worked very well, but then found out the same product is available in a rattle can and decided to try it for the final coat. My goal was to get a flawless final spray coat, and avoid the cleanup hassle after spraying with a conventional spray gun. The product worked well and worked as I had hoped.

Wow!

Love this product! We've been varnishing for literally decades and this is a game change for us. Not so much for our 1958 43ft wooden yawl, but for smaller customer jobs at our architectural salvage business where we redo some antique and vintage pieces. Great option!
