3M 216U Gold sandpaper features gold resinite Fre-Cut aluminum oxide abrasive material. These sheets are intended for Dry sanding only. Standard 9" x 11" Sheets, sold in sleeves. 3M 216U Gold Sandpaper lasts a long time and is one of the best for dry sanding. Leaves no residue. Great for sanding water based finishes. Resin-coated aluminum oxide paper. Used for sanding bare wood, coating removal, and between-coat sanding. This sandpaper is known for its fast cut rate, flexibility, and consistent results.

Consider another product for wood

Jamestown does show this product suitable for sanding wood. I found the sandpaper does leave a gold residue embedded in the wood. 3M does not list this product for use on wood. It appears to be better suited for sanding paint, fillers, and fiberglass. I have only used it on plywood.

Great stuff

This is a superb product. I use it to sand out all kinds of finishes. It cuts great and does not load up. If there is any powder on the surface, all you have to do is buff it once across a rag and it's clear. One sheet has tremendous mileage.
