Product Details

Palm primed fuel filter makes servicing easy. This filter assembly is deigned for higher HP range, high fuel flow engines. The 490R-RAC-01 handles a flow rate of 90 GPH (340 LPH). Your engine will perform better than ever with clean, water-free fuel via a 10 micron filter. This filter is coated with a durable electrostatically applied powder coating for superior corrosion resistance and no paint flaking.

Features a see-thru contaminant collection bowl with a drain valve for outboards, must be mounted above deck. Regulations for inboard powered boats require shatterproof metal bowl types found on other units to meet 33 CFR and USCG standards. The Racor Filter Water Separator is corrosion-resistant and meets the ABYC standard H-23.

Worked great!

I replaced a Yamaha filter assembly, as well as the priming bulb with this unit. The Racor pump worked great and filled the filter with fuel quickly after pumping it a short time. It seems like a quality product that will last a long time.

Questions

Q: null if water has been seperated. how do I know ? is any fluid in the plastic bowl water?

1 Answer

A: These filters are set up so any water will settle on the bottom (more dense than gas so it settles). Not all fluid in the bowl is water, but you will distinctly see a clear layer on the bottom of the clear bowl if water is present. The black drain plug on the bottom of the bowl allows you to drain off any of this water before it fills the filter completely, creating engine problems.

Q: null does the primer bulb replace the hose fuel bulb?

1 Answer

A: Yes, the built in primer fully replaces the in line bulb but, you can leave the bulb in-situ without effect if you don't want to replace the existing fuel line.

Q: null can the 490-RAC-01 be used with diesel fuel?

1 Answer

A: While the 490R series Filter/Water separator is suitable for diesel applications, you should consult Parker for your particular application, as there are add on features you may be interested in such as a water sensor and fuel pre-heater element as well as differing filter media types. I have contacted the manufacturer in the past and received a friendly informative response the same day. Good luck and happy sailing!
