A: Sorry, these are not for engine cooling. You should consult Johnson Pump or a mechanic for that information

Q: What is the correct impeller for a 1961 Cadillac 325hp inboard motor. I need two of them for the water intakes. And is there another pump on this motor?

A: Sorry, I don't have a lookup for a Cadaillac motor. If you have a Johnson pump on that we could look up the Johnson pump number for the impeller.

Q: how hard is it to replace and where can i get a chiltons if they make them for boat motors?

A: I assume that you are referring to the cooling pump impeller for a Johnson outboard or I/O. That is not necessarily a __quote__Johnson Pump__quote__ Impeller. Johnson pumps are similar to Jabsco and other brands. I have a Johnson pump on my Yanmar diesel engine. Replacement of the impeller in this case is easy and doesn't require a manual. Assuming you have a __quote__Johnson motor__quote__ rather than a Johnson pump, it is a bit more involved, and yes, there are manuals available for nearly all outboard brands. In short, to replace a pump impeller on most outboards, you need to separate the lower portion of the drive unit from the upper portion. You should see some bolts at the cavitation plane area. The entire drive shaft will come out of the engine head. It is splined and, in some cases, very difficult to break loose without damage to the cast metal portions of the lower unit. Take it easy and use a rubber mallet if you need to apply some tapping force. Once you have the lower unit free, replacement is fairly obvious and easy. Re-assembly is just the reverse though I would suggest applying some anti-seize or at least some grease to the splines on the shaft.
