Q: null Pettit Off White 3107 is shown as temporarily unavailable. 1. What is your forecast for when it is going to be available? 2. What is the difference between 3107 and 3108? (it appears 3107 may be less off white than the 3108?)
7 months ago1 Answer
A: 3108 is closer to a cream color than 3107. Lead time is two weeks. You could also look at TotalBoat Wet Edge Off White.

Q: null I just moved and my new house has old peel and stick tiles in the kitchen. I was wondering if I could use this paint to paint over them? I believe there is particleboard underneath them as there was in the bedroom I tore the carpet out of. I am also wondering if it could be used on particleboard
11 months ago1 Answer
A: It will not adhere to the peel and stick tiles. I would not recommend using it over particle board.

Q: null The description for tough coat rubberized deck paint says it matches the easy poxy deck colors however I do not see whaler blue in the easy poxy color selection is there a Whaler blue available in easy poxy paint?
a year ago1 Answer
A: Hey there. Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately Whaler Blue is not offered in EZ Poxy paint. However, this color is very popular in other topside paints like Wet Edge: https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/product/product-detail/64351

Q: null Hi, I'm looking for an extremely hard finish for an exterior door that gets a beating from the elements (I live very close to the ocean). Can this paint be applied over an ordinary exterior water base paint?
a year ago2 Answers
A: From the tech data link on the website: ""If the old paint is a latex or water-based paint, or is in poor condition, remove it with a paint and varnish remover or by sanding. Proceed with instructions for the appropriate bare surface system."" For an extra durable finish, add the Pettit performance enhancer.

Q: null Is Pettit EZPoxy topside paint compatible with the two-part paint presently on my wooden boat? I just need to cover a few small areas that occasionally scuff in trailering. Boat is epoxy-saturated plywood covered in glass cloth, painted in two-part epoxy paint.
a year ago1 Answer
A: It's always best to do a test first, however, if you prep per previously painted instructions it should not be an issue.

Q: null What is the shelf life of an open Quart of Ezpoxy Paint?
a year ago1 Answer
A: Hi Pete. Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately it is hard to predict the shelf life of opened paint because it can vary greatly depending on conditions and exposure. To extend the life as long as possible, store the quart tightly closed in a climate controlled location out of direct sunlight. You can also spray some Bloxygen into the can before closing, which will settle over the surface and help keep oxygen away to delay skin-over. You can find that here: https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/product/product-detail/63940

Q: null I recently purchased an aluminum bass boat. The previous owner painted the upper rail (gunwale) with Krylon Fusion spray paint. He said he used a Rustoleum primer first. My Question is if I wanted to use this product can I apply it over the existing paint? If not do I need to just sand to ruff up or do I need to get it down to bare aluminum? Thanks
2 years ago1 Answer
A: Hey Timothy, Thank you for reaching out. We cannot guarantee the Ez-poxy over the rustoleum and especially the krylon. You would have to test it first. If you sanded down to bare metal you would have to prime the metal first as Ez-poxy is not designed to go directly to metal. Please refer to: https://doc.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/pdfs/Pettit/Pettit_EZPoxy_Technical_Data.pdf for appropriate primers for different substrates
