Q: null I need a 17 foot engine shut down cable for my Catalina 400. If I purchase a 20' Teleflex Utility Cable can I use after cutting off 3 feet from the jacket and 3 feet from the wire? Also, what are the technical specs of the T-handle and and what's the diameter of the jacket?

A: I would not suggest making any changes to the cable from the original manufacture design. You never want to mess around with throttle, shift or stop cables. Make the correct measurement and go 1' longer to make sure. I did not end up using this cable, I was able to utilize a standard 3300 series cable for my fuel shutoffs on my older boat. I do not have diameter measurements but would guess approx 3/8"" , hope that this helps

Q: null Hi, looking at Teleflex utility cable. I need a t handle that locks. I am replacing a Nyman boat lift cable that lifts and pushes the dog hook mechanism. My current cable is frozen but the t handle can lock. Do you have this cable with a locking t handle? If not how stiff is the push and pull? So it will not lower the dog when the boat is off the lift. CN you pls tell me the shaft diameter? It needs to feed through a panel. Thank you.

A: The cable does not have a locking handle. There is only slight resistance when the cable is moved.

Q: null Replacing old fuel shut off with T handle on Yanmar 2GM, with Teleflex utility cable. What is the hub ? Not sure if i need hub or no hub version? My length is 15 feet.
4 years ago2 Answers
A: The hub is the aluminum tube that secures up near the T handle mount at the end of the cable where it goes through , I have a set of Cummins 300 horse mechanic home 5.9 that have T handle shut offs also , I was actually able to use a standard style 3300 shift throttle cable to fix mine , Without seeing yours it would be hard to suggest which route to take

Q: null product is available with and without hub. What is the hub?

A: It's the knuckle that goes up into some throttle assemblies on one end of the cable. The other end your cutting for length as it reaches the engine/component you are controling

Q: null What is a __quote__hub__quote__?
9 years ago1 Answer
A: The hub is the top of the cable where the handle is, there is a bulkhead hub with a threaded nut as the one pictured. No hub is just a bare cable without the mounting nut assembly.
