You get tons of crap on your rag, then all of a sudden you dont and the surface is perfectly ready for paint. Evaporates quickly so you dont waste time waiting. Much cheaper than some brands but just as good.

I use this to clean fiberglass and metal before repairsl and painting.

The surface prep seems to have worked well. The fiberglass patch job is still holding. I believe that the lack of this surface prep on the previous patch caused it to peel off the boat.

Works for me. Just follow instructions for all total boat products. Dewaxer works well just as was intended to do.

Now that I've had a chance to what the product actually is I'm impressed. You take a generic product, Xylene, which sells for under $10 at the hardware store, label as a ""dewaxer"" and sell it for $20. Wish I had thought of that. Congrats.

Honestly, it is hard to visually evaluate how well this product cleans a surface. While cleaning a dirty dinghy hull, it didn't /appear/ much cleaner afterwards, but some of the dirt was probably ground in pretty good (bought used). As far as prep for applying laminating product or gelcoat, everything seemed to adhere well after cleaning/prepping with this product, so I expect it did it's job! This product dries fairly quickly, but not so quickly that you can't get a good wipe down in.

We needed to clean the recently built cuddy cabin of our 20' LOA, 8' Beam, Ply on Frame, Fiberglassed backyard built boat to start priming and finishing. The first step after fairing the surfaces with our homemade fairing compound and sanding was easy using this solvent. The solvent swabbing was, after dusting, very revealing as it picked up minute surface insect residue and imperceptible by eye, greasy spots left by the insecticide used to ward them off. We highly recommend this solvent for use on any build where a very clean surface is required - especially as finishing is undertaken.

This is my go-to paint prep cleaner, easy to use, no harsh smell and does an excellent job cleaning - even really nasty surfaces.

Overall, I like the product. I am hoping that it proves it's self out in the long run and the paint does not come up due to unseen wax... only time will tell. I did not like the can lid threads. It wanted to cross thread every time I put the lid back on, which is often, in order to prevent it from evaporating or getting tipped over. Eventually the lid got stuck bad enough that I had to punch a hole in the can and drain it into a wiper fluid bottle. Fortunately it has not eaten the plastic bottle. I would guess that a plastic bottle would have been cheaper and better from the beginning.

Great packaging for safe shipment. Works exactly as advertised.
