The recent rain washed the SRT from the hull at all the drain holes and scupper areas?

Neptune water base bottom paint

Goes on thin use smallest nap roller. Dries quick don't go back keep rolling. Dries flat looks faded. Make sure bottom is clean no dust with a finger wipe. We will see at season end how effective in Bristol harbor.

Super stuff, easy to apply - clean up is a breeze and it doesn't smell like most bottom paints I've used.

Q: null I'm interested in the HRT bottom paint. My question is. Is the viscosity similar to the Pettit SR-21? I'm concerned about build up through the years of reapplying. Thank you Jim

A: It's harder than a traditional ablative but designed to gradually wear away. Water based bottom paints tend to be thinner than solvent based paints.

Q: null My fiberglass sailboat has several different bottom paints applied over the years, Will this paint work with application over those paints, My boat will be out of the water on a trailer 90 percent of the time, will this paint last of die if kept out of the water that long.? What other perp will I need for this paint?
2 years ago1 Answer
A: Hey Dennis, Thank you for reaching out. It works over a large amount of paints without knowing the paint on there, there is no way for us to guarantee it'll work. Please reference this pettit compatibility chart: https://pettitpaint.com/media/4777/pettit-paint_antifouling-compatibility-chart_technical-bulletin.pdf Whether it'll last or not depends on a few factors, but standardly it will give you at least a year on a trailered boat. Prep instructions can be found here: https://doc.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/pdfs/Pettit/neptune-hrt.pdf

Q: null Is this paint better than aqua guard?

A: Hey Tom Thank you for reaching out. The 2 paints are in the same category of single season water based ablative. They will work similarly for most bodies of water, though due to the different resins and copper load, one may do better in one body of water and the other may do better in a different body of water. As a rule of thumb though, Pettit does water based paints REALLY well. Tom

Q: null How will this hold up on a trailered boat? Used in both salt and fresh water
3 years ago1 Answer
A: I first used this at WoodenBoat School for a rebuilt 12 1/2 . Used it over primer and had three coats prior to first launch. Have applied two coats with roller before launch for last three years. Boat is on a mooring in salt water for season. Seems to hold up fine. Have not used in fresh water Bob

A: The manufacturer provides no information about burnishing this product. You may want to contact them directly. Vivid, Black Widow, and Old Salem may be burnished.

Q: null Can this be applied over hydro coat, and is this multi season
5 years ago1 Answer
A: Neptune HRT can be applied over any previous bottom paint . . . It does not claim to be Multi-season - read the label.Do not use on Aluminum Hulls.Another tip ....I used HRT last year (Chesapeake Bayv - 30' sailboat) with excellent results. Bought another gallon this year (2019) and this year it has the consistency of drywall mud even after power mixing. I thinned to the recommended maximum 12oz per gallon and its still too thick to roll. There's a warning sticker on top of the can that says apply in thin coats . . . not possible. Never seen bottom paint of this consistency in 50 years of boating!!

Q: null Can this paint be burnished like Neptune 5?
5 years ago1 Answer
A: I wouldn't, it goes on way too thin to begin with. Allegedly this stuff is a replacement for Neptune 5. I hope it works better than ""5"" . . . I got barnacles after 6 months in the Chesapeake. . . . Unsat.
