Product Details

Protect underwater metals from marine growth with Pettit Running Gear Gaurdian. Dual biocide formula provides multi-season fouling protection on props, trim tabs, prop shafts and rudder, prop struts, sail drives, strainers, bow and stern thrusters, and other underwater metals and running gear.

Even low levels of fouling on running surfaces can cause significant efficiency and performance losses. Increase speed and maximize fuel efficiency by reducing or eliminating marine growth on running gear. Running Gear Guardian provides multi-year performance and can be hauled and re-launched without losing effectiveness.

Kit comes complete with 1 quart of modified epoxy primer and 1 quart of antifouling topcoat that cures to a durable, slick, and ultra-smooth finish.

Info & Guides

A note on mixing Pettit Running Gear Guardian:

Running Gear Guardian Primer and Topcoat can settle over time, especially if the product has been on the shelf for several months. It is necessary to thoroughly mix both paints before using. If possible, shake the can of paint on a mechanical paint shaker. Before using, check the sides and bottom of the can to make sure all of the pigment has been mixed in. If mixing is going to be done with a wooden paddle or an electric drill mixer, pour off half of the liquid from the top of the can into another can and then properly mix in any settled pigment; then remix the two parts together thoroughly.

Definitely a A+

So we just hauled my father's boat out this morning and we are all very impressed with the results. (Pics attached) The prop has zero growth on it just worn down to the primer on some spots and in my opinion I think it works better than the propspeed. So the boat has been in the water since the beginning of April and hauled today in Dec. And 65hrs was put on the engine.

Excellent upgrade, love the product!

I've used the really expensive speed kits before, tough to apply and if I was lucky, might get 2 seasons but not enough to justify the expense. Tried this last year and had great results.

Better off with the cheap zinc coat.

I've used several gear products in the past, propspeed, propone and even just regular zinc spray from pettit. All worked better then this kit. I followed the instructions to a tee with not a single spec of anything on my running gear. The first kit I got was very solidified and i contacted pettit who had the rep give me a new kit, so off to a bad start with this product but was very happy with the customer service rep going out of the way to correct it. Went through a season with my boat, had a feeling I had some growth as I developed a vibration and started running warm. Well pulled it out and my running gear was more loaded then ever in the past. Lots of labor went into prep work and was told come the following year I could just re top coat it and be good, clearly not going to be the case. Everything on my boat that was metal is loaded, everything metal got this product. My bottom paint, hydracoat by pettit held up well. Very un happy, clearly will not use again.
