BoatLIFE Life-Calk Primer is a one-part, non-flammable, resin-based primer for use on oily woods and metal. Developed by BoatLIFE (The Polysulfide Experts) to promote maximum adhesion with all polysulfide sealants. Improves adhesion of Life-Calk. Use on wood teak and other oily woods. Not needed with two-part Life-Calk.

Q: What's in this stuff and does it make a difference?

A: I cannot say for sure at this point. I just finished my caulking project in October 2014. Boatlife did recommend it. I was caulking between aluminum and fiberglass / gelcoat (boat twisting & movement was a concern) so that is what made me think I should use it. I did not want to have to do this project again so for the price of the primer vs. the caulk & LABOR I thought it was worth it. My only advice would be to be sure you quotetoolquote the caulk after application, as per the youtube instructions; and also follow the temperature guidelines strictly. Do not caulk if below recommended temperature. JKJ
