Product Details
Bristol Sussex caulking cotton for traditional caulking of boats. For larger seams. Approximately 210 Feet per Pound. Single combined 1 grade.
For varied planking, also keep some Oakum on hand for wide gaps, and Caulk Wicking for tight gaps.
Typically, on boat seams, caulking is next covered by a marine paint. Once dry, the remaining space is filled with seam compound (one for above waterline, another for below) before applying final topcoat.

There are good youtube videos on how to use the cotton, especially Louis Sauzedde's Tips From A Shipwright. The process is straightforward and there are different tools you can substitute like a rubber mallet, putty knife or pizza cutter.
