A: Typically it is the same cable for both the shift and the throttle. Adjustment is made on the throttle linkage.

Q: null We have a 40hp Yamaha outboard. We want to replace the steering cable, helm, and steering wheel. The black Teleflex cable's two end numbers are 15 or 15 ft. Do we add onto the length of 15 foot extra for the piece that goes behind or through the backside of the motor. (The metal part) I need to know exactly what to order??? Please advise.

A: Mike, You will be replacing the entire cable (s). On the motor side of the cables about 3 feet from the engine on the cable you should see the part number printed on the cable, in the part number the length of the cable should be in feet if its a black tele-flex last two digits, if its a red morse cable the length is in inches (last 3 digits), the cables should un thread from the ball socket on motor side, and unthread from the controls. You should need to disassemble anything but the cable. Do one at a time and use the old cable to pull the new one through the boat.

A: If you removed the old cable, measure for replacement cable as follows: Measure from tip to tip and round up to next whole foot, if necessary (aftermarket cables are sold in foot increments). The control cable part number contains its length Teleflex cables are usually listed as CC???XX, where XX = length in feet. Morse cables are listed as ??????-??-XXX.0, where XXX.0 = length in inches. For example: Part Number CC63320 = 20 ft. CC633 Control Cable or Part Number 032377-03-240.0 = 20 ft. 33C Control Cable (240__quote__ = 20')

Q: null I'm trying to figure out what new cables I need for my dinghy. The brand is Telefax and the the number I see on the cables is 3999014. When i search on line, it pulls up multiple options, but not sure which one is the right one. Can you help me with any other identifying criteria to determine the proper cable to order? Thanks.

Q: null I need two cables for 25 HP johnson control, throttle and shift. The control surface mount ends are the same fastening method, at the engine ends one is for the shift the other is for the throttle. How do I order these? my OEM control nuumber is 5006180.
