Product Details

KiwiGrip rollers let you vary the texture of Kiwigrip non skid coating, from fine to aggressive depending on the amount of surface traction desired.

Loopy Goopy rollers are unique and proprietary to KiwiGrip, and the only type of their kind available. Choose from 4 inch and 9 inch sizes. For best results, the 4 inch size is recommended. However, the larger size works well on larger boats.

Stellar Customer Service!

The product seems to apply as advertised, but I have not put it to the test yet. I wanted to comment on Jamestown's excellent customer service. My little quart arrived broken open and a sticky, gooey mess in a box. Clearly a shipping issue. I called JD to discuss and without delay, they sent me a new quart AND an extra roller cover! Thank you for attention to such a small order! Since before the web, when snail mail was the only option, I have purchased everything from silicon bronze screws to a spoke shave from JD and they are consistently stellar. Thanks again!

You'll need to buy a few .....

I spread kiwi with a throw away brush first then roll it out. I like my finished deck but the roller fell apart after 1st coat. I should have bought a few. I would still recommend it because it creates a nice surface & you can control the texture you want. It's not as aggressive as I thought, and we'll see how long it holds up. All in all so far I'd buy it again. Easy application. Hope it holds.

$25.00 roller is a ripoff

These rollers are a ripoff... the very same roller is at Lowes.com for $4 to $5. i prefer the Bestt Liebco for its less aggressive nap.

KiwiGrip Roller

Need to apply KiwiGrip thickly and then roll it out. Be careful with later applications since the old paint dries quickly in the roller and then blobs onto the new surface.

Q: null christine@artistickayaks.com I ordered 2 roller and did not receive the handle ,just the rollers . Do I have to order the handle.

A: The roller frame does not come with the roller covers, they are sold separately. They fit standard paint rollers, and though it is a 4"" roller cover, you should be able to get away just fine if you can find a 3"" roller frame, just verify that it holds the roller cover sufficiently.

Q: null Can't seem to find the coverage sq ft for quarts and gallons, does the method of application vary coverage much? Thanks, Rick

A: I only used a quart (liter?) to cover a deck core repair on my cockpit sole. It's still in pretty good shape three years and two Atlantic crossings later, and is better nonskid than the original factory molded nonskid. The factory says 20 square feet coverage per liter of paint and that was roughly my experience. I haven't used enough to be a real expert, but my guess would be that there is minimal variation in coverage density either on different surfaces or with different application techniques if it's put on right. The paint is very thick, about like commercial yogurt. I troweled it on, using the special roller just to texture the surface. I believe that if you put it on too thick, it will break up and have a short life, but I didn't try that. I also have seen a variation in texture based on wetting the roller, that can be used to smooth the texture, for example if you wanted to put KiwiGrip on a seat. I don't believe this would change the coverage appreciably.

A: No, it is only the roller cover. It fits on standard roller frame. Make sure you get the right length to match the roller cover.

Q: null When purchasing white kiwigrip how do I instruct my local Sherwin Williams paint store to tint to my desired color?

A: I never knew this paint was available through Sherwin Williams. I think you should bring a sample of the color you want to them and they will tint the paint accordingly.

Q: null Is the finish flat or gloss or?

A: Def a flat finish. Keep in mind that the product is designed to be very textured and that the amount of texture depends on how thick it is applied. Something else to keep in mind is that because of the high degree of texture, it is hard to clean, so probably best to not use in high traffic areas. In did my cockpit sole in regular paint with nonskid. But the Kiwi is awesome on topsides forward.

Q: null My boat already has a fiberglass not slip surface but it is old and has __quote__spider web__quote__ crazing of the gelcoat throughout. Should I dilute the Kiwi grip and dust brush on for an __quote__infill__quote__ coat? Can I use a finer foam roller to reduce the amount of grip? Glenn Higgins

A: Glenn, I would not thin the KiwiGrip at all. it will fill in as is. though it is more like a thin putty to begin with. I found the best way to apply it was to use a putty knife to get it out of the can then spread it with a brush, then roll with the roller. you control the coarseness of the nonskid by the amount of rolling you do, the more you roll an area the finer the nonskid becomes. A regular roller just made a mess. It does dry fairly quickly so work a small area (3'x3')then move on. If you think it came out too fine you can overcoat it after it dries. It will clean up with warm water. clean the roller first and be gentle they are pretty delicate, and expensive. John B

Q: null Does the 4__quote__ roller frame come with the 4__quote__ roller or do they have to be ordered separately? Also, will this work well with interlux non skid paint?

A: As I recall, the roller frame did not come with the roller. I am @95% certain on that one. Whether or not the roller will work with a different manufacturers product..., I am not going to even speculate.
