Great Value, Great color

Easy to use high quality, excellent value. I like the maroon color better than the bright reds that other companies offer.

This is the best antifouling paint I have ever purchased.

It is the third week of August and I have no growth on the bottom of my boat. You can't beat the price, and they even included a full painting kit. This was a five star purchase. Thanks

Not great in high growth areas
Applied one coat over existing ablative paint. Easy to apply and loved all the extras and free shipping. Had the boat hauled after 2 months and found considerable growth on the bottom, no barnacles just a thick layer of grass. Boat was used about once a week. Will be upgrading to a higher copper paint next season.

I would not buy this paint again
I had this paint professionally applied to my 40' power cat. The diver that cleans my boat could not believe how much hard growth was on the hulls after less than 5 months. After calling customer service at JD, they said that was the wrong paint for my boat. Nowhere in the paint description did it mention the paint was intended for seasonal use, not boats that remain in the water all year. The paint ($400) and labor ($2375) was wasted money.

Good product, good price

This was originally used on a sailboat that was previous bottom painted and used in salt water. We were using in fresh water only. Not knowing what bottom paint was used previously, it took a lot of sanding to remove all, some patching and a good solvent wipe before applying. Like anything else, you need a good foundation, don't skimp on the prep. I applied 4 coats and it looked great. Each spring I'd give a quick sanding to remove the shedding and smooth it out, then apply 2 fresh coats. Paint did it's job and was reasonably priced. The blue color we selected was a big improvement over the old brown too. Would recommend for sure.

Very Good

Used this last year on our '86 268WE and absolutely LOVED it. It went on easy and in short time, all we had to do was sand a few areas. It held up cleanly against the filth of the Ohio haha. Recently bought an '89 340DA and plan on using this for it. As compared to other paints on the market......GREAT BANG FOR THE SMALL BUCK!! just mix it really good and give the can a few shakes and inversions

I mixed the paint in a commercial paint shaker for 15 minutes. When I poured into my paint tray, half of the paint was a huge lump.

I have used Interlux and Pettit ablatives. Last season I ran out of Pettit and used Underdog to finish up. The diver reported NO difference in growth, I noticed no difference when the boat was hauled either. It's all Underdog this season, can't beat the performance for the price.

I will buy this product again and recommend it

I used the product last season at the suggestion of a friend and I was not disappointed with the results when I hauled the boat out in the fall. Best bottom paint I have used in many years. The pricing is very reasonable and the tray, roller, and suit come in handy. The free shipping is also a big plus.

Bad color chip
I applied this last weekend and the boat hasn't gotten to the water yet so I can't say anything on performance. But..... I was expecting a Navy blue like the paint chip to match the stripe that I put on with Totalboat Topside paint. It turned out more of a ocean blue which is a lot lighter. Yes, I did apply two coats that the directions suggested. Maybe once it gets in the water it will appear darker??

underdog

The paint was easy to mix, appeared to be light viscosity but covered well, there were particles in the paint that did not disolve by mixing??? The paint needed to be filtered to remove the particles, they appeared to be paint ""skin""?? I'll have to watch and inspect after the haul out in the fall.

Excellent coverage...

Changed bottom paint color from blue to black... blue was completely covered with first coat...My boat is a 20'er and a half gallon would have done it probably,, but I used the whole gallon because keeping the rest was pointless.... the boat is trailered now, and I don't anticipate really being able to tell about the anti fouling,,

Awesome oaint for after hull repair
I am new to the boating world, but old hat when it comes to fiberglass repair. I bought a beat up old fiberglass fish/ski boat that needed hull repair. I filled all the holes in the hull and first covered the entire bottom of the hull with an epoxy primer. After the primer set and cured, I followed up with this underdog bottom paint. The paint was easy to apply with a roller and covered well. I have only used the boat a few times, so I can't speak on durability as of yet, but it looks great and the boat has zero leaks. None of the paint got scraped off by trailer bungs yet either. I would reccomend this paint for post fiberglass hull repair any day.

So far great for the price

So far no growth on bottom of boat. It is still early in the season and the water is still cool, but so far so good. Make sure to get a good mix of the paint before applying and make sure you have eye protection. It goes on water thin, and a the roller splatters pretty bad, but covers well. When we launched we touched over the stand spots with a brush, and dried with a heat gun while the boat was in the sling. Worked well in just a few minutes got the spots covered. 29' boat took 1.25 gallons 2 coats. We'll see what it looks like at haul out.
