6 Gauge Marine Tinned Battery Cable

6 AWG - Nominal OD Size: 11/32"

Constructed to American Wire Gauge standards, AWG wire is up to twelve percent larger than the equivalent SAE wire sizes. AWG wire provides a greater current capacity when compared to SAE gauge wire.

Marine Tinned Wire and Cables are manufactured from tin coated copper strands for maximum protection against corrosion, electrolysis and resists fatigue due to vibration and flexing.

Rated at 600 volts and 105 degrees C, the heavy duty insulation is resistant to heat and abrasion. Exceeds all UL1426, US Coast Guard Charterboat (CFR title 46) and ABYC standards.

A: I used my 6 ga wire for a trolling motor application in my boat. It works well. I have no experience with wiring sub-woofers. According to the catalog the minimum size is 8 ga. Is this overkill for the sub-woofer?? Is there another wire that is better suited for this application??

Q: I'm looking to replace the battery wires for my Johnson 35HP outboard - I have no idea what size or type of wire that I need. I probably need a 6' - 8' length of wire to run from the motor to where the battery is located. Can someone advise what thickness/guage wire that I need?

A: tTom to get quick starts use the 6 gauge __quote__Tinned__quote__ cables. I have twin Johnson 48 specials after replacing old Non Tinned which had corroded on the inside of cables reducing the current by 50 percent. now I have quick starts

A: that is only answered when the knowledge of how many amps your electrical devices draw, and the distance from the battery to the devices. most manufacturers use at least 4 guage or larger...if the run isnt longer than maybe 12 feet, and the devices are not drawing LOTS of power...like electro- hydraulic pumps and winches. going larger wont hurt, it just costs more...going too small can be worse. because your devices dont work AND you have to go buy new wire...so the first purchase is wasted! bob
