Q: null Painting an old rusty steel boat trailer. Does all the old paint have to be removed completely for rustlok to adhere or is sanding adequate. Thanks

A: I can say as I have ever used this Pettit product. When I painted my trailer, seven years ago, I sand blasted it used a 2K primer product and painted over that.

Q: null how long should be left between recoats? I'm working at 85 farenheit degrees
5 years ago2 Answers
A: I used the Pettit Rustlock Steel Primer on some steel that was treated with rust converter fully dried. It was about 60 degrees outside and I applied a second coat when it was somewhat dry. The surface felt tacky but did not stick to my fingers. I have not seen any issues with it and it has been close to 2 years. It has held up very well and I am pleased by the product. That being said it required mixing before using it, quite a bit of mixing like it had been sitting on a shelf for a long time. Best Regards
