Moeller anti-siphon valves prevent against fuel loss in the event of a fuel line break. This design combines anti-siphon protection with the convenience of a hose barb. Valves are brass or aluminum with NPT thread. Barb fitting sizes are available for either 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch ID hose.

Bad design. 2 HUGE Defects in ball-check hose barb fitting
6 years ago
Junk - don't use - caused big headache until finally diagnosed. One came on $750 exact OEM replacement 55 gallon aluminum fuel tank. After carefully installing all new hoses, filter, primer bulb and double checking everything, couldn't get fuel to flow using primer bulb. Double checked all, including flow arrow on primer. Big mystery. Started working backward, separating hose fittings and trying primer bulb. No luck until all way back to this fitting that came on new tank. Found two HUGE defects: (1) Ball check spring is far too strong for primer bulb vacuum to overcome; (2) male threaded part too long as it completely blocks fuel flow hole coming up from dip tube before tapered threads tighten sufficiently. Stupid bad design!! Replaced with old tank's non-check barb fitting but I still had to cut 1/4"" off its threaded length so it wouldn't cover riser flow hole. I wonder how many others have had this problem...

Defective

The check ball rattles around and does not seal. You would think that a safety device would be made better. Now I know why a lot of people throw these in the trash and use a strait fitting.
