Great Paint

Glad I chose awlcraft over awlgrip. I went with awlcraft because it's buffable. Good thing I did. When I painted my 16 foot hull in the garage I got dust all in the paint. I called awlgrip and they told me what to do. I ended up sanding the dust out with 1500 and 2000 grit sand paper and buffed it out. Looks great.

Q: Can I use this on my fiberglass swimming pool slide?

A: You can, you have to also procure the proper primer/catalyst, the catalyst for the paint, wear proper safety equipment and it will work, just note that like the customer above said, it cannot be fully immersed in water for long periods of time

Q: Can JD supply Awlgrip 2000 Acrylic Urethane Topcoat in Whaler White color code F8596? Can this product be applied over TotalBoat epoxy primer and barrier coat?

A: Yes you can do this. You really need to focus on getting the primer sanded down with 320 grit until there are no imperfections. Even with the barrier coat your first coat of Awlgrip needs to be a very light coat and allowed to tack up slightly prior to full coat application.

Q: My sailboat has Awlcraft Midnight Blue paint on the topsides. There are a few scratches and dings I would like to repair. I have used the small touch up bottle but I have some larger areas. Is the best method to brush on or spray in the paint and then buff to plead in? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

A: AwlCraft is not a product that can be rolled and tipped. This is due to its chemistry as compared to Awlgrip- uniquely different products. I suggest to prime and spray these larger areas to avoid disappointment. AwlCraft will blend nicely with proper sanding prep prior to applications of primer & topcoat(s). The use of a Acrylic Urethane Blender after topcoat has been sprayed is also recommended.

Q: Can this product be applied over old ( good condition ) only faded epoxy paint on hatches ? I need to roll it on as no spraying is allowed at our Marina

A: Product may be rolled and tipped using correct reducer. Reducing is required. Existing surface should be thoroughly sanded to 320 grit and a coat of 545 epoxy primer applied. Sand primer to 400 grit prior to topcoat application. May also be a good idea to test paint by scratching an area with a razor blade with 8-10 cross cuts into the paint. Then tape a piece of paper towel with reducer on it and let stand for several hours. If paint lifts or peels, then remove all paint to bare.
