Excellent - spayed quality with a roller

Used with brush thinner, best paint I've ever applied. No joke. Mirror like gloss and looks like it was sprayed.

Promising on a sun-beaten front door (hence 4 stars)

Applied over acrylic (latex) in good shape. Longevity to be seen, but the acrylic got chalky in a year. The paint is VERY glossy, color is very rich and true to Epifanes color chart (in the sun). It seemed to brush better when I thinned it maybe 5% with Penetrol.

I would not purchase again.

Purchased the paint and appropriate thinner. It covers OK but does not flow out very well and it took 2 days to completely dry.

Great Paint!

Painted old dark green fiberglas canoe that was in very bad condition. Sanded, wiped with Interlux 202. primed with Petit primer and rolled on 2 coats Epithanes Red Monourethane topcoat with fine foam roller. Painted in Oct/Nov in garage with small heater to keep temp at 65-70 F. Fully cured in 24 hrs for recoat. Looks like a new canoe!! Very, very good paint. Chose paint based on Jamestown demo video.

NOT recommended

This is by far the most difficult paint I have ever used on a boat (this is my fourth full-boat paint job). It is remarkably finicky to the environment - use only out of the sun (cloudy days?), but not in the rain (sunny days?), not too humid, but not so dry or windy that it skins too quickly. OK, use ONLY in a shop, barn, warehouse, etc?!?!? The instructions say that it dries in a day, but that's a fantasy - a week to a month before it stops being too delicate to touch for any purpose, because it scratches and peels easily before it is fully ""cured"", which I see as 1 - 2 months. I have had it bubble up weeks after application (yes, under a tarp, but c'mon), peel off with blue painters tape, wrinkle when I didn't get the thickness ""just right"", and just about every other imaginable painting nightmare. Plus, it's very, very expensive! I bought it for scratch resistance (top rated by Jamestown and others) but if it comes off in chunks at the slightest provocation, I'll be painting this boat in a couple of years. ???? Yes, I used their very, very expensive primer to avoid any compatibility issues. Their paint peels off of their primer - at least one is failing to do its job.

Tough and Beautiful

In my 50+ years of painting boats I've used almost every brand out there. The Epifanes Monourethane is a superb, tough coating, among the very, very best. It is also tough to apply and requires the right weather conditions if used outdoors, the right amount of thinner, AND the right touch on the roller at all times. When all goes well, the finish rivals the best spray job even when rolled and tipped. In fact, forget tipping with a brush... use the very fine foam Epifanes roller to tip itself. You'll be amazed at the results . Order the thinner, foam rollers, graduated measuring cups, and lots of wet/ dry sandpaper and prepare yourself to go light, slow, and methodical. Practice on a panel first (5-6% thinner). You'll get a killer finish. I used it on my motorhome and saved a ton of money over a commercial spray job.
