overcoating

I called Interlux before using this in my centerboard case. I was able to overcoat it without sanding as long as the finish was tacky. I applied four coats in one day over epoxy resin. I waited for a day when the humidity was below 50 percent. Saved sanding in a difficult location

Extremely slow to dry.

I wish I had seen the other reviews before purchasing this. This varnish takes far too long to dry. It got ""tacky"" after 3-4 hours, and is still ""tacky"" almost 20 hours later! The varnish has to be sanded before another coat is applied, so you have to wait for the varnish to thoroughly dry. This varnish is just too impractical and inconvenient to use: maybe OK if you have an entire week to apply varnish in a protected location. The excessively long drying time also increases the likelihood of dust affecting the finish. Interesting that the can does not indicate drying time. I thought the color of the varnish in the can was darker than I expected for a ""clear"" varnish.

Slowwwww revisited

I wrote earlier this stuff dries slow...it does. So I feared it was going to sand like a rubber ball...I was wrong! It sands (dry 400g) (36 hours) later like a DREAM!! Not even a hint of gumming the paper. The clarity of this finish is amazing. It won't replace Captain's 1015, but it certainly has earned a place on my shelf. For reasons unknown, the second coat dried faster than the first.
