Great protective finish for a replacement wooden yard swing
7 months ago
My daughter had a yard swing with canvas seats. Between slots of sun and a little rain, the canvas failed. I made replacement seats and seat backs, then coated them with this penetrating epoxy. They're now well sealed, look great and should last for many, many years. Perfect product for this application!

Perfect solution

We replaced our old redwood fence pickets. I planed down the pickets. Even so, the wear on the pickets were still visible. I used Tolalboat penetrating epoxy mixed with equal part acetone to seep into the weather wore cracks. Then I lightly sanded and applied Totalboat Halcyon Varnish. The wood now feels solid and looks amazing!

I plan on building several tables this Fall and Winter. The first table project is a refurbish of an old picnic table I built from mainly reclaimed Redwood. Really funny but I found this wood on the side of the road. At the time I used some old oak boards for the skirts. That was a mistake. They rotted. I made new ones from cedar and redwood. I allowed the table to fully dry in my garage for a few of weeks. The old finish was a polyurethane bought from Lowes. It lasts for only one year. By the time I got to it this time much of the table was down to bare wood. I sanded off what was left. The penetrating epoxy was easy to lay down. I just poured it out and used a 4"" roller. I went against the grain with the roller. Then I used a brush to go with the grain. Very few bubbles with this epoxy. It appears it really went deep into the wood. I am now using a marine spar varnish to add layers of protection. I hope to get several more years out of this table before having to refinish it again. I am new to this product so time will tell. My table sits outside in harsh Ohio weather. It never gets a break. This project is still in process. I will definitely use this product again.

I used this product to repair the wood on the roof of my rv. Mixed and handled easily. Used a syringe to inject under roof to harden rotting wood.

Great Stuff

This product was very easy to use and did what I wanted it to do. no fuss no mess. Will use it again. I liked the way it absorbed into the wood. I applied about 6 coats by brush, waiting between coats about 3 minutes between coats. And it dried clear! nice bonus.

Great product, poor handling.

I really love the quality of this penetrating epoxy. It's working time and stability, clarity and coverage are all great. I wish the bottles were a little more ""pour friendly"" as the hardener glugs when it's poured and gets over everything around your cup. That aside, the only reason I'm giving three stars is for the quality I received one of my 2 kits in. The hardener had leaked in the box and unfortunately hardened the cap of the epoxy onto it. I was missing probably 10% hardener, which worked out because I probably wasted 10% of the epoxy cutting the lid off and transferring to a new container. Not really worth the hassle of returning, but something to consider. Keep in mind, I bought thick pour and table top as well. Probably 10ish gallons and this was only a problem on one hardener.
