Q: null I'm interested in using the Quantum 99 topcoat urethane in Boston Whaler Blue for the interior of my BW. I noticed on the Quantum website that they recommend that color as spray only. I don't see that recommendation here. I plan to roll and tip (as necessary) the finish.

A: Shawn, you can roll and tip, just mix the paint and catalyst well and let it induct for 10-15 minutes before adding reducer. Mix in your reducer and roll on.

Q: null Can Quantum 99 be used below the waterline? I'm considering using it on the hull sides of a fiberglass 1973 Century Coronado that is on a buoy during the summer. I'm curious if this paint will have problems if I run it down the hull sides below the waterline.

A: It depends on when second coat is applied after first application. Sand or no sand recoat time depends on temperature and humidity. Very important to read and follow the directions for this paint if you want good results.

Q: null I have a Renegade motorhome that is constructed out of FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plywood). The white gel coat on the exterior is cracked and chalky. How should the surface be prepared before using the Quantum99 top coat. Should I use fairing compound to fill the small cracks in the gel coat and smooth the surface prior to primer or is the primer build enough to fill these cracks?

A: It's best to grind out the cracks with a dremel, fill and sand the cracks for best results with gel coats.

Q: null I'm restoring a 1957 Feathercraft aluminum boat. Can I use this on the boat? Also, I'm sandblasting the 1957 TeeKnee trailer and can I use this on the steel trailer?

A: Yes you can use this on the boat. If you are brushing/rolling you will want the brushing catalyst and brushing reducer, If you are spraying you will want the spray catalyst and spray reducers. If there are any areas the the aluminum is bare you will want to apply a thin coat of Quantum45 Chromate primer mixed 1:1 with the Chromate activator. You will also want to use this on the steel trailer. 0.5-1mil for the chromate. Hope that helps out!
