I am so impressed!!!

Varnishing is such a pain at the best of times but this product makes it a tolerable process, especially being able to continually apply multiple coats in the same day without sanding. It speeds everything up so much and finish is fantastic. Your technical group are fantastic as well…. Great support!!

This varnish went on like bubble gum

Was a new can just opened went on like thickened epoxy only applied on 2 feet of cap rail stopped and removed. Went back to schooner varnish. Had good results with gleam varnish, maybe received a bad can.

Yes. I would use this again.

I used this product on a home built sailboat, over several different kinds of wood. It flows on nice. I applied it with a brush and tipped it with the same brush, No thinning, just out of the can. About 4 coats without sanding. Looks like a real hard finish, and a deep bright shine. I sanded lightly with 220 grit, and will put a couple more coats to finish. Also, I used it over Total Boat Sealer. Works great. It's a little pricey compared to other varnishes, a pint costs about what others cost for a quart. But I think it goes on a little farther than other varnishes. I'll use it again.

Perfect, don't use it when it's hot outside!

Man this stuff is great. It's like good quality varnish except that it dries faster. That's wonderful, I'll buy it again for sure. But, don't use it when it's super hot and sunny! We were working in direct sunlight at 90 degrees and the stuff dried before you could get it off the brush. We used 40 gallons of it and it was some tough work.

Don't but this

I purchased this Lust for a paddle board and applied it as recommended and the product had some runs in it. After letting it cure for 3 days I wanted to sand it to get the runs out and the product never cured. I could peel the Lust off, and where it didn't peel the Lust was still soft and gummed up the sander. I called customer service and they said I did everything right just sometimes the product doesn't cure when it gets runs or to thick. Never offered a refund of $45 I paid for the Quart that I had to peel off the board. I would recommend the total boat 2 part epoxy. It works great.

Being able to apply multiple codes in one day is key to getting out on the water when the weather goes from really cold to perfect boating weather!

Works great in the right circumstances

Lust rolls and tips on nice in real thin coats. I find it can be a gamble when the substrate or build up gets a little thicker in spots, I mean a tiny bit thicker. I was getting an get an ugly maze in the finish when the fresh coat is interacting with the previous, even when waiting hours at ideal temperatures and tack free etc. Sanding the maze out even after 24 hours or more could potentially lead to a gummy mess and a hole. Varnish is unforgiving in that situation. In short, my method is to use Lust below the water line and get it flowing with a roller/tip combo, but detail work topside with the potential to pool a little, I use a different brand and am happy all aroud.

Built a superiorly table for my sons exterior deck. The table came out great after six coats of gloss and two coats of flat. But the product is very smelly when being applied

Easy to build deep gloss

I was looking for an easy to use multi-coat varnish system for teak handrails and toe rails - hoping to knock out the project in two weekends with warm temps. LUST worked well on a couple trial projects and was easy for an amateur to get a good look. All systems go for the main project.

Nice finish

I used this varnish on my first ever boat build. (Disclaimer by no means am I a professional finisher). Lust varnish allows for several coats to be applied with out sanding before coats which dramatically increases the finish time of your project. I found it sands well, wet or dry for the last coat. I have applied it with both foam roller and badger brush, so far I prefer the brush to the roller, the other project I use this on is a paddle that I made.

multiple coats seams a bit exaggerated

I used this product to varnish the top of my gunnel. My boat is inside heated storage and the temp is between 65 and 75. I put two coats on approximately an hour and a half apart after waiting two hours for it to dry so I could put on a third coat it was still sticky so we left and came back 8 days later. I still had small spots that were sticky when sanded. Next test was one coat and I let it set over night, approximately13 hours and same issue. I applied a second coat on that portion and will see how it drys in the next day or two.

Lust Varnish

This was a big surprise. I purchased this for the fast drying for multiple coats per day, after 2 coats I think this is the best looking varnish job I have done. The second coats was hard to apply due to high gloss of the first coat, I will wait 48 hours sand before the next coat. Very impressive varnish, just hope it lasts longer then flagship or awl grip varnish.

I give it a 3.5

It's hard to handle, brush ability and finding the right thinning rate is difficult but the fast drying and build up is good and it sands readily. Kudos for Jamestown great service

Fast but a little finicky.

It's the end if the season and the weather is getting cooler and a new-to-me boat needs some varnish work before the weather gets too cold to apply it. I can't leave the wood damaged and let it get worse over the winter! What am I going to do? Oh, hey, this stuff looks cool. Multiple coats in one day, you say? Sign me up! So it's not too good to be true, but it's not snap your fingers easy. First thing's first. Buy the thinner. This stuff is THICK. It also dries really fast and is hard to maintain a wet edge, BUT if you thin it... significantly easier to work with. It dries to the touch within an hour, but don't expect it to harden enough to sand sags or runs for a few days. I found out the hard way that applying it without thinning it just results in more work that you can't do until it hardens a few days later. But, for getting 3 coats on in one day, it's worth the initial learning curve. Also, a badger brush will be helpful. The foam brush just ends in tears and lots of drips to clean up.

Optimistic so far

Heard it recommended on radio for cedar so got it to try on our 24 yr old deck chairs. First few coats thinned 50/50 with high gloss, then 1-2 coats of matte only thinned 20%. They came out nice, dry time was as advertised. It is more expensive than other products we have used, but we have never been happy with others we tried, so...here's hoping. We'll know in a year and a half.

This varnish dries very quickly and applies nicely. My last few coats were thinned and I plan one more coat to finish it off after the season.

I followed all instructions. Visually it's a very nice look on and outdoor bar top. But the finish needs to be harder to withstand use. It very easily damaged.

Love the finish of lust

at first few coats I really like the amber/pink on it but at 4th to 6th coats it's too glossy for me. I did plan for this and bought a quart of satin or non-gloss one. So ill apply that for final finish. Very easy to apply and the self leveling worked. I did sand after second coat as theres parts of the area where it wasn't smooth no problem not as much as the other products.. after that I didn't need to sand again.. For high end outdoor builds this will be my go to. Unfortunately I can't always ask clients to pay for this premium product. Hope it lasts as described so we'll see after a year. Thanks.
