Replaced first with cheaper seals from another source that leaked worse than original. Ordered these and had no problem. Works perfectly!

The product in itself was excellent. I am an industrial mechanic, so it was a piece of cake for me to install. Very pricey for what it is though and I found it for $30 cheaper on amazon after I had purchased it...of course

Q: I am installing a new HS5157 seal kit on a single cylinder on a merc 225 I did the starboard side with no problem on the port side I took the nut off the support bracket but the support bracket will not come off . ant tips
6 years ago1 Answer
A: I did mine 2 years ago so don't recall exactly how I did it. I do remember I to had this problem as when the bracket finally broke free it went overboard and lost it. I did find a used one on eBay fortunately. My bracket may be different than yours as I have a 200HP Evinrude. If you're in a slip I suggest using a piece of wire from the bracket to the boat so you don't loose it.

A: The recommended cylinder for that engine is the HC5345 which uses the HS5157 seal kit.
