My use was a retrofit of and older helm that had an 4 1/2"" openng in my console. With the use of the backing plate, the install not only looks great, but was pretty routine.

A: Over fill? When is it leaking? Is it when you turn the wheel? I haven't seen this and to be honest I'd be making a guess at it. Have you tried Seastar product support. I've talked to them in the past and they were very helpful. Best of luck
