Product Details

Teleflex Tilt helm provides tilt wheel steering option for all mechanical steering systems. Tilt allows the wheel to be moved incrementally in a 48 degree arc. Similar in appearance to standard mechanical helms, except that instead of having one single steering mechanism with a shaft for attaching the steering wheel, the tilt version comes in two parts. Complete installation requires this part (TEL-SH915231P) and the Tilt Mechanism (TEL-SH91800P).

Requires SSC61XX Series QC cables (sold separately).

Info & Guides

Quick Connect helm requires no tools for installation, just snap and go. The Safe-T has rapid response steering with 3 turns of the wheel from lock to lock. For single station applications only. Requires the use of SSC72xx or SSC61xx (QC II) Teleflex steering cables.

There was an offset, from the existing one, that caused me to cut part of the frame to fit it but other than that it is a great product.

Q: RE: 2002 HARRIS KAYOT L240 24 IO with the original SAFE-T QC tilt helm and tilt mechanism model SH91800P, QC cable that is in great condition and would like to buy a new single tilt rotary helm for it. Could you help me with what would be compatible ( possible SH91523-p ) with my tilt unit? (I would replace cable and all if I were not on vacation in the Keys at the moment) Thanks Mark

A: The Teleflex Safe-T quick connect tilt helm part # TEL-915231P should be the replacement helm for the tilt that you have.

Q: Is this a no feedback helm? I already have a new one I don't like, it's a pain steering at slow speed. Too much this way or that.

A: I don't recognize your part number but Teleflex did have an SH91500P: https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=11824&familyName=Teleflex+Performance+Steering+Tilt+Mechanism+and+Bezel JD does not carry a dual cable helm for that model.

Q: I have a Teleflex Safe-t Helm tilt system incorporating a SH1535094 that I need to replace. Will the SH915231 unit work as a replacement?

A: The SH915231P is the helm unit which mounts underneath the dash. It is compatible with the tilt unit supplied in the SH153094 kit.

A: You will need: Tilt Helm Steering Mechanism (this part) Tilt Helm Unit with Bezel (TEL-SH91500) - mounts on the outside of the steering console, and connects a flat ended shaft to a u-joint in the Tilt Helm Steering Mechanism Steering Cable (TEL-SSC61_ _) of appropriate length Steering Wheel Also you will need to be sure the cable will connect to the I/O unit.

Q: Hi, I have a Teleflex Model SH91510 Spline/Tilt Helm Steering box on my 2004 Chaparral boat, (with a SSC6216 cable). Will this product work as a replacement for the SH91510? I'd prefer not to change the spline steering wheel... Is a compatible replacement spine type steering box available? The SH91510 appears to be discontinued.Thanks!
