I installed on the interior bulkhead to the side of the companionway on my Sparrow 16 sailboat. Piped from the bilge inspection hatch to the cockpit. Works perfectly and VERY effeciently. Finally does what something is SUPPOSED to do.

Q: null Can I use 1 1/8 hose with this pump instead of 1"" or 1.5""?

1 Answer

A: The pump comes with fittings for 1"" or 1.5"", but if you already have 1-1/8"" hose, you can probably get an adapter to go up to 1.5"". You would not want to reduce down in size to 1"" because you would lose pumping power and reduce your gpm.

Q: null how do I mount BP9013 Thru Deck/Bulkhead Mount with Removable Handle to my cockpit locker so that only the cover is visible on the outside of the locker vertical wall?

A: You remove the face plate by the 4 machine screws, drill any necessary holes, and then reassemble the faceplate to the pump with the deck or bulkhead in the middle. The only trick is to get the holes lined up so it goes together easily.

Q: null I just became latest owner of a 1971 Columbia MKII 34'. It has a Whale MKII G8...I assume it is a Gusher 8. The working diaphragm dry rotted and disintegrated. So I have the plastic base structure and the handle and need replacement parts. Does Whale make replacement parts for the G8? Do I purchase parts for a Urchin? Will Urchin parts fir a G8? Thank you in advance for your answer. Paul

Q: null I want to mount this pump on a cooler to pull in water as a live well. Can you explain what is meant by mounting __quote__through__quote__ bulk head or __quote__on__quote__ bulk head. I want to secure this to a cooler and have hoses running to it?

A: I think that will work. I use mine to pump rainwater from a cistern overhead to a small gravity tank at our camp in Maine. I screwed it to the house wall, one hose into the cistern, another up to the barrel, works well, fills a 50 gallon barrel in just a few minutes. I would think you would either screw it or through-bolt it to the cooler and it should work fine, but it does have to be secured onto something. Whether through or onto a bulkhead I dunno, but it's a surface mounted manual pump, and you can change where the handle is by rotating it around the ring, like moving a clock hand, so the handle will always be in the right orientation.

Q: null can the hoses be purchased with the pump?

A: John, I am not aware of any kits which include hose with the pump. The hose length required is probably specific to each application and would be difficult to anticipate by the manufacturer. JD sells bilge pump hose by the foot so you can get exactly the lengths you need for both the intake and exit. Neil
