Be careful when ordering
When ordering this ""kit"" be mindful that the description of features is misleading all you are purchasing is a helm. Which I was able to locate and purchase at half the price from another website. I only ordered this kit due to the fact it stated that it was a complete jet boat steering kit even sent cable length and type of jet drive with order. To make sure I was ordering proper kit and parts I even sent a email asking and was told yes it is a kit. The company did make a offer for my inconvenience. I did not feel the offer was sincere or adequate. I did receive a complete refund including shipping. Was told they would have to fix the advertising on the website it has been a month and it still reads the exact same way that is the only reason I'm writing this review. A manager Mike was very apologetic and easy to work with so overall it does seem to be a good company.

Love this product fit like a glove

This product looks and fit like the original factory part. Very easy to install, I've never worked on a steering system for a small water craft before and wasn't sure of myself the instruction were clear and the mounting bracket could be used in several different application plus I saved my old steering helm which made it extremely easy to match up. I installed the helm and new steering cable (sold separately) and now the steering operates like new again. Also they had the best pricing that I found. Good luck and safe boating

Q: null Could this be used with standard rotary cables to control an outboard jet?
a year ago2 Answers
A: It can not be used with a standard Teleflex rotary steering cable such as the SafeT QC. If your outboard has a standard tilt tube you need a Rotary Safe-T or NFB helm.

Q: null Will this work for a 2000 Sea-Doo Challenger? The original part number from Sea-Doo is 204390361. And then will I need the 270 or the 135?

A: Sorry, I do not have that information. You can contact Seastar at 610-495-7011

Q: null the description says steering cable is included, and the image depicts it. is it included because nothing asked me about length or anything just leads you to checkout? this is for a 1994 152 medallion donzi jet boat. there are no existing steering parts for this boat and i need everthing

A: Hi there. I wouldn't know sorry, I bought just the helm itself and got my cables separately. Given the price of this listing, I would say it's likely just the helm and mounting hardware as it's a similar price to what I paid. One thing I would recommend is getting the 270 degree helm. I got the 135 degree but the ratio is just too close and it takes away the ability to make fine adjustments at slower speeds. It's a great product though, really simple to set up and use.

Q: null What parts are included in the bezel and mounting hardware kit?
9 years ago3 Answers
A: IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I INSTALLED THIS ITEM BUT I BELIEVE THE KIT INCLUDED A MOUNTING PLATE AND THREE SCREWS THAT PASS THROUGH THE DASH AND FASTEN THE STEERING BOX TO THE BACK SIDE OF THE DASH. THE BEZEL FASTENS TO THE SAME MOUNTING PLATE WITH TWO SUPPLIED SCREWS. there WERE PROBABLY LOCKWASHERS OR SOME OTHER KIND OF THREAD LOCKERS AS WELL BUT I JUST DON'T REMEMBER THAT DETAIL.

Q: null Do you need to get a cable or will this work with the original cables?
10 years ago4 Answers
A: This system requires a push-pull cable with a ball end coupler on the steering wheel end so if that's what you have it'll probably work.

Q: null I bought a Teleflex steering system, but I need to hook it up to a 66 Johnson outboard. Do you have a connecting bracket for it? Larrlynn
10 years ago1 Answer
A: I don't think I can help much. I bought a Telelflex jet boat steering system for a jet boat application. Because of my one-of-a-kind project, I had a cable custom built to my specs and fabricated all my own bracketry. I'd go to the Teleflex website and search on __quote__steering brackets__quote__ or __quote__steering connection kits__quote__ or something similar. Good Luck, Marshall Young (AKA Frankenboatcaptain)

Q: null Is the steering cable 10 feet long?
10 years ago1 Answer
A: Steering cable IS NOT supplied! You have to order it separately so you can order whatever length you need. Steering wheel is not supplied either so you're on your own there too. Good luck - my system worked out great and I really like the way it responds.

Q: null I have a dystany 15 foot jet with a 120 mercury jet sport. What steering do I replace it with?
10 years ago1 Answer
A: I'd go with the Teleflex JBS and a cable the same length as your original. You may have to get a different wheel unless yours has a tapered/keyed shaft interface.
