Q: null I need to know the diameter of the screw head on the 10-24 , 1/2 "" barrel, 1/4 inch diameter/hole size barrel nuts.I need a 1/2"" head. Respectfully, Lou

A: The head is 1/2"" but if your hole is larger than 1/4"" you may need to use a fender washer to get the nut to seat well.

Q: null How many barrel nuts in a box? Seems odd you don't give that info on the web page. I'm assuming a quantity order of ""1"" doesn't mean one nut.

A: The stainless steel barrel nuts come 25 to a box (it is listed just below the quantity selection on the website)

Q: null Is there a problem using an 18 -8 stainless barrel nut with a 316 stainless screw?
10 years ago6 Answers
A: As noted by others, no. Simply stated, 316 contains molybdenum while the rest simply do not. 316 is used in salty environments and the brown rust staining you'd see on a cheaper stainless product (like your grill or fridge). As long as there is oxygen to oxidize the magnesium. Galvanic corrosion is not the problem you'll have. Over tighten stainless, and the surfaces grind against each other and break off the oxides and then there is the potential for welding to occur at the molecular level. Antiseize may help, but one might use the marine grade anti-sieze without metal bits in it.
