Exactly what I needed!

Bought an old boat. The previous owner (brother in law, stop laughing) said the steering cable ""needed a little lubrication."" After nearly twisting the steering wheel out of the consol it was clear that lubricants were not going to solve this problem. Filled with dread I started removing panels off the boat. The cable was easy to remove once exposed and the Teleflex number on the cable sheath made it easy to look up the new part. Jamestown had a good price and great customer reviews. That's what sold me. If I had a problem with this part, I wanted a real store backing me up, not an Internet .com address to nowhere. Fast shipping and a perfect fit. Thanks guys!

Q: null I need to replace Morse 300619-216IN rack style steering cable. This is for my 1997 Gekko GTO 22 ski boat. Do you have a replacemnt cable in stock? Or the entire steering kit? Current set up has tilt steering but i would give that up to find a replacement Thank you Mike
4 years ago1 Answer
A: JD does not carry tilt rack steering systems. You can use an 18' Teleflex rack system but they are currently unavailable. I don't have a way to match the steering system to your boat but you can see the specs at this link: http://www.seastarsolutions.com/products/mechanical-steering/nfb-rack-steering/

Q: null I have a '92 Stratus Bass Boat with a 150hp Johnson Fast Strike on the back. Not sure what length cables i need. Where do you measure the old cables to determine overall length? Do you measure from the gear on the rack or the end of the rack? Also near the motor do you measure to the nut on the cable or the end of the steering shaft?
4 years ago1 Answer
A: For Rack Steering Cable Replacement, Measure Existing Cable as follows: Measure plastic cable jacket in inches, add 30”, and round up to next foot.

Q: null Im not sure on the length i need? According to the video provided i measured the 'cable only' length at 12' 4"". That seems like i need a 14' replacemnt? Is this all i need to know? (Old teleflex cable #'s have worn off). The total length inc gear box and drag is 15'6""

Q: null Looking for a replacement cable on a 1988 Sea Nymph Great Lakes Special GLS 195 with a Teleflex Rack and Pinion Back Mount system. It is a 70HP Yamaha Outboard, My guess is the cable length is about 13 feet. It looks like the part number is SSC13415 TELEFLEX USA 9326
5 years ago1 Answer
A: Based on the last two digits on the number it looks like you have a 15' cable. Since those numbers can be hard to read, you may want to measure it to be sure. For Rack Steering Cable Replacement, measure the plastic cable jacket in inches, add 30”, and round up to next foot. You can find your replacement cable at this link: https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=12856
