Q: the the 5/8"" Fir wood plugs straight or tapered?

A: They are straight but one edge is slightly rounded to make it easy to insert in the hole.

Q: How long are the 1/2"" fir bungs? (how deep of a screw hole can it go down?)

A: About 7/16"" long. Screw hole shouldn't be longer than 3/8"".
