Q: Taco 1"" hollow back rail u have 6ft and 12ft pieces I need 16 ft section for swim platform on 42"" egg harbor can lead me in a direction
3 years ago7 Answers
A: It depends on the dimensions of your platform but your best option would be to buy three of the 6' pieces, install a 6' length around each side and cut the third piece to fit between the other two. You could reach out to Taco marine at 800.653.8568 and ask if longer pieces are available and who sells it near you.

Q: For a Kayak we don't need the durability or the weight of SS or brass, do they make these stripe in Nylon?
6 years ago2 Answers
A: We unfortunately do not have any lighter duty nylon rub rail materials. We do have some of the PVC inserts that usually fit in some of our other rub rail systems that would be more the scale you are looking for, but I'm not sure how you would attach it.

Q: With the SS rub rails do you use splice and end caps. Did not see those items listed. Thank you,
6 years ago3 Answers
A: Hi Bill, here is a link to the end pieces. There are no splice fittings for this brand. https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=219&familyName=TACO+Hollow+Back+Stainless+Steel+Rub+Rail+Ends

Q: Can the 1/2 stock be bent around the stem of a small runabout? And, are there end pieces for the 1/2 stock. Thanks - Jim
7 years ago1 Answer
A: No you cannot bend hollow back without kinks, you would need to use the solid back to bend it.

Q: What is the typical length of #6 screw used for the half inch oval?
12 years ago4 Answers
A: My choice for screw length to mount the half-round stainless strip depends on several factors so in my opinion there is no __quote__typical__quote__ screw length. Place the strip on the surface or edge that you're trying to protect. Then insert a screw of known length thru one of the mounting holes and measure how much protrudes above the half-round. This will give you a starting length, that is, how much length is needed before the screw sinks into the surface. Suppose you're mounting a 1/2__quote__ half-round on a flat surface: this length should come out about 1/2__quote__. Then consider what you're driving the screws into---if 1/2__quote__ wood, for example, an additional 1/4__quote__ or possibly 3/8__quote__ or so is all that can be used for a total length of 3/4__quote__ to 7/8__quote__. In no case should the screw length be long enough so the screw penetrates thru whatever you're mounting on----and keep in mind that there will be many screws holding the half-round in place and very little load on the assembly so there's no reason to use screws that penetrate more than 1/2__quote__ or so, in any case. If you're mounting onto a sharp corner or edge on a keel or stem then screw length will shorten depending on how sharp the corner is---in the extreme case the starting length could be essentially zero.
