Product Details
Unidirectional Carbon fiber Cloth is a strong, lightweight composite that can be used with polyester or epoxy. Used in building America's Cup boats, the material can strengthen any project while adding minimal weight.
Graphite running the warp and a cloth thread securing it. Good for areas requiring carbon strength in only one direction, or can be overlapped with itself to achieve two-directional strength.

I purchased this cloth to reinforce the composite material in a radio control jet. Works GREAT! Added a lot of rigidity to the surface that it was applied to.

Q: Please confirm the 9.4oz carbon fiber unidirectional cloth is sold in (1) yard increments.
a year ago1 Answer
A: Hey Andrew. Yes, this product is 12 inches wide and can be ordered by the yard. If you order 1 yard, you will receive a piece 12 inches wide by 36 inches long. If you order multiple yards, they will usually be a continuous roll.

Q: Does the quantity of this ordered equal the amount of continuous yards of a single 12"" wide strip? For example, if I wanted two separate 5 foot lengths of 12"" wide, I would put 2 instances of quantity 5 into my cart? Also, I would like to confirm which way the unidirectional fibers go, along the length I order, 5 feet for example, or the 12"" width. Thanks!
2 years ago1 Answer
A: Hey Liam, Thank you for reaching out. You are correct, if you wanted two separate lengths, separate instances would be required, I would also recommend leaving a note on your order as well about it. They go the length so in your example it would be the 5 feet.

Q: How fire resistant is the raw untreated material?
10 years ago1 Answer
A: The properties of carbon fibers, such as high stiffness, high tensile strength, low weight, high chemical resistance, high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion, make them very popular in aerospace, civil engineering, military, and motorsports, along with other competition sports. However, they are relatively expensive when compared to similar fibers, such as glass fibers or plastic fibers. Carbon fibers are usually combined with other materials to form a composite. When combined with a plastic resin and wound or molded it forms carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (often referred to as carbon fiber) which has a very high strength-to-weight ratio, and is extremely rigid although somewhat brittle. However, carbon fibers are also composited with other materials, such as with graphite to form carbon-carbon composites, which have a very high heat tolerance.

Q: How thick is this? Ideally including epoxy. If I used 8 layers. How thick would it be. I'm looking at the 50in width, though I assume they are all the same.
