Product Details

Save more time and money on your next bottom painting project with Interlux Aqua-One, a powerful, water-based antifouling coating that's easy to apply with a brush or roller, covers well, and dries fast.

Aqua-One is DIY and environmentally friendly because it uses water as the solvent, which means low VOCs and low odor for indoor application, plus easy clean-up. Low VOCs mean the paint dries faster so you can launch faster. Or, wait to splash when you're ready because Aqua-One has an indefinite launch window. An added bonus for boatyards is Aqua-One's availability in a cost-effective, 3-gallon pail (black and blue only).

Aqua-One comes in Black, Blue, Green, and Red, in Quart, Gallon, and 3-Gallon sizes.

Not for use in California

Aqua-One Does the Job

Good bottom paint. It does the job well. I have been using this paint for several years. I have tried other water-based antifouling paints but this seems to be the best in my opinion.

Questions

1 - 8 of 8 Questions

Q: Can this product be used on a aluminum houseboat bottom

1 Answer

A: Do not use this paint on aluminum. It will eat your hull. Use a non copper paint such as Interlux Micron CF or TotalBoat Krypton.

Q: On the data sheet it says DO NOT SPRAY under notes but under application it says brush, roller or sprayer. Which is it? You can spray it or you can't or is it you can but you probably shouldn't?

1 Answer

A: You can spray with an airless sprayer but probably shouldn't.  The paint is pretty thick and would lose it's effectiveness if thinned for spraying.  Rolling is the best bet for large surfaces with brushing where a roller can't reach.

Q: Can I apply Interlux Aqua One over System Three WR-LPU Topcoat?

1 Answer

A: Yes but the topcoat is not suitable for continuous submersion and it will likely delaminate from the hull, taking the bottom paint with it. Your best option is to remove the topcoat before bottom painting.

Q: can aqua-one be applied over oil based micron

1 Answer

A: Yes you can paint right over Micron. Lightly sand and apply. Oil vs. water based antifouling does not create compatibility issues. Once the water or solvents have evaporated, and the paint has cured, they do not have incompatibility issues like household paints do.

Q: I have some 8 year old bottom ablative paint that has pretty much ablated off. Some where around 50-60%. Can I overcoat with Aqua 1 (the cheeeep Stuff) with out removal of the old paint? Old paint is around 10 years old. Top speed on this 26' X 8 X 2.5' STEAM LAUNCH is 6.7 mph. Drag is not a great concern. tom Ray

A: Remove all traces of loose paint and contamination by sanding the entire surface well with 80 grit sandpaper. Remove sanding residue.
