Product Details

DeBond Marine Formula is one of the only products that will work on cured 3M 5200! Use DeBond Marine to remove common marine adhesive sealants, caulk, decal and tape adhesives, shrink-wrap tape, gaskets, seals, silicone rubber, and paint overspray. It's safe to use on finishes like gelcoat, Awlgrip and other 2-part paints, and Plexiglass. Note: Do not use it on plastics.

Available in a 5 or 10 ounce aerosol spray can.

Info & Guides
Debond Marine Formula is the only sealant remover we know that is specifically formulated to remove cured polyurethane adhesives like 3M 5200, 4200, 4000, plus Sikaflex 291. These are products marketed as forming permanent bonds, and without using DeBond, they are indeed permanent! You can also use it to make keel removal a breeze, and to help remove old hardware and transducers.

Simply spray on and wait a few minutes. DeBond breaks bonds in minutes. It's safe to use on fiberglass, gelcoat, powder coated metals, aluminum, 2-part paints, polycarbonate lenses and clear coated finishes.

When you're done, simply clean up with soap and water to neutralize DeBond Marine, then wipe down with denatured alcohol.

Worked great to remove 4200 and silicone

Really does remove the 4200/silicone's ability to bond to surfaces. Didn't hurt paint or the gelcoat. Great product

A sharp scraper is faster

Bought this product to remove window sealant. The valve on one of the cans leaked and most of it ran down the side of the can. What fluid did get on the window was slow to loosen the sealant. I had a lot of windows to remove so scraping was more effective. I requested a refund for the defective can but never got one. At the price, I probably won't use it again.

Questions

1 - 3 of 3 Questions

Q: I watched the DeBond video. I've used the product and agree it works well on exposed surfaces. My question is, how did you remove the hatch to begin with??? I haven't had much luck getting it to penetrate the seal and break the internal bond between the hatch and the hull.

A: Hi You need to score the edge around the hatch with a razor knife to allow the Marine Formula to wick in under the hatch. It's in the instructions on the can. Can you add that to your instructions VP- DeBond Corp.

Q: Can I assume that '...do not use it on plastics...' means that vinyl siding for the home falls in the category of materials that this product (DeBond Marine Formula Adhesive Sealant Remover) should NOT be used on?

A: No When we say plastics we are thinking soft plastics like toys or Computer plastic. Just test on something with a Q tip in an area that is inconspicuous and not seen. Again it's in the directions on the can. Or you can call me! The phone # 561-575-4200 I'll call you back.
