This is a great little system to allow the normal guy to put away his engine properly for the winter.

Safe and easy

Worked good. The small valve that shuts off the tap water broke as soon as I turned it. I replaced it with a metal one for garden hoses. Also, I had to enlarge the jugs vent hole so that the antifreeze could flow easily into the motor.

Good idea

This is a good idea, but the seams leaked on the one I got. I was still able to use it with some difficulty. The point of buying this was so that I would not waste antifreeze, ended up wasting some anyway.

A handy flush kit

The kit makes it simple to do a good job flushing the engine cooling system. The kit saves time hunting around for the hoses, fittings and bottles needed to do the job.

Q: Want to use this for a small inboard diesel where I would be disconnecting my through hull water intake and connecting it to this device. Hard to tell from the information included, but wanted to confirm that the picture looks like the valve would allow you to select intake via a hose connection or the 5 gallon container. The goal being to run the engine until the t-stat opens up with intake from a hose, then switch the valve to suck in the antifreeze ? Or would you have to warm up the engine first, then disconnect my intake and connect to this device ?

A: Rob - Yes, I hooked up the hose to the valve on the 5 gal container. I let it warm up with the hose the switched the valve over to draw from the container with antifreeze in it. The only tricky part was killing the engine with spray oil before it had sucked all the antifreeze up. Good product.

Q: I have a wooden boat with a intake in the boat bottom, can I hook it up to a fake a lake?
9 years ago4 Answers
A: It should work. Just use the inboard device instead of the I/O device. turn the valve to bypass the antifreeze container and bring the engine up to operating tempaerature which opens the thermostat. Make sure the vent cap is off and then turn the valve to pull the antifreeze out of the container, into the engine block, etc. If you have a second set of hands, as the antifreeze container is almost empty, you can spray a heavy dose of engine fogging spray into the carburetor to kill the engine of just turn the engine off.

Q: Do you leave the antifreeze in the engine block all winter?
12 years ago1 Answer
A: We do not leave any antifreeze in the block during winterizing. The process we use is to drain all the water from the block and manifolds, leave the plugs in a plastic bag for installation in the spring. We then hook up the antifreeze winterizing kit and then run approximatly 2 gallons of marine antifreeze into the engine and manifolds allowing all to drain back out. This proceedure will treat any captured water with marine antifreeze but will also not allow any fluid to remain and potentually freeze. We have been using this proceedure for the past 30+ years winterizing well over 300 per year. As to date, not one freeze damage ever occure. Good luck Al

Q: How do I get instructions on proper use??
13 years ago2 Answers
A: The instructions are inside the box. This was the first time I did it and it was easy to do. I warmed the engine up first. Then added the rv/ marine anifreeze. I used 5 gallons in the container and ran it into the motor until it came out the bottom.
