3M Aluminum restorer and polish removes oxidation growth and stains and restores a lustrous appearance to bare aluminum. Use sparingly, a little bit goes a long way. We recommend testing on small inconspicuous painted areas to determine suitability. It also removes heavy oxidation and restores shine to most painted aluminum surfaces. Great for pontoons and aluminum boats.

I would buy this again.
I used this paste on my aluminum boat, the bottom had been exposed to the effects of lapping water of a lake that it sat in for a year before I bought it Below the waterline was fine but it was badly stained and corroded where the water was lapping. Although this polish took a lot of elbow grease it worked like a charm getting rid of the major staining, I will give it one more application and am sure it will look like new.

Amazing Shine
I used this on a forty-plus year old aluminum boat. Following the directions I applied the paste, rubbed, then buffed. The boat went from near gun metal grey to a shiny reflective surface. I just hope the shine doesn't scare the fish away.

The Best Product Ever!

I used the product to clean the metal surrounding my glass shower door and the metal around the vanity sink. It worked like magic! I did a small area about 3 inches at a time. Using rubber gloves and a long handled spoon, I put a dab of 3M cleaner on the metal strip. Then I used a square of paper towel to rub the cleaner back and forth with little pressure. Next, I took a second paper towel to remove the black oxidation and wow, it was mirror bright! On stubborn areas I used a very fine steel wool dipped in a little of the cleaner. It was such a pleasure to use. I cleaned around the sink, the whole door, back and front plus the frame and I still have 1/2 of the jar left. Fantastic!

Q: Can you use this on trim tabs?

A: Yes, it works on all aluminum, but be prepared to use some elbow grease. If the aluminum is nice and smooth, it will come out very bright, like a chrome bumper..

Q: Want to clean up __quote__white chalky__quote__ (oxidized) appearance of black anodized aluminum. Will this product work?
10 years ago3 Answers
A: I honestly don't know that anodized aluminum can be cleaned with this type of product. Anodizing is a chemical process that has been applied into the surface, not on top of it. I used it on my bare aluminum pontoons that the previous owner had neglected and used some type of chemical cleaner that left the aluminum stained with what looked like dried milk. The pontoons were 10 years old and were also showing signs of light corrosion with very minor pitting. I applied the compound with a 3M 6__quote__x1__quote__ foam disc on my drill. I discovered the edge of the pad applied perpendicular to the surface worked very well. Working in about 2 sq.ft areas at a time, Buffing it clean between applications. It wasn't easy, taking about six applications to get it where I wanted it. 16' pontoons took 2 containers of compound and about 100 washable rags. Very clean, very shinny even 1 year later. Up close you can see imperfections in the surface. 50 ft away, shiniest pontoons on the lake.
