Installs easy and works great .... for 1 year then leaks appear in the pump housing. I asked around the marina and anyone who has this model has this issue. This is a poor design.

Poor marine design and const quality

Internal components are not designed for marine environment. Replacement parts costs as much as the price of a new unit, so do not bother to buy them. I replaced my existing Jabsco with a new unit. The new one failed to perform after a few uses, leaking used waters through the pump handle and returning used waters back into the bowl. This makes using TONS of water, filling the holding tank in no time. I would not recommend this to my enemy.

    Industry Standard

This manual toilet is the industry standard on most American boats today. It is manual and not electric so takes some work but will last forever if you replace the seals every once in a while. It is the best bang for your buck anywhere. The non-compact size is a little bigger but not worth the extra money for 3/4"" of seat.

A: The head i replaced was matched by model number of my original toilet. Best to cross reference your old model number to model number of the replacement head. gl

Q: null I currently have a Jabsco compact toilet. Can I replace the compact bowl with the regular size?

A: It worked in my boat, Beneteau 35S5. The mounting holes are the same. But the bowl is distinctly longer to the front, and might require a little extra room in the back. I'd check the measurements, of course, But it should work.

Q: null My holding tank will be 4.5' above head. Will pump be able push waste up that high without damage to pump or have back flow issues?

    1 Answer

A: I think it will, but be sure to install a vented loop between the toilet and the holding tank to prevent back flow. The loop should be as high as possible but definitely above the height of the tank.

Q: null What is the seacock?

    2 Answers

A: A seacock is a thru hull fitting valve made either from Marelon (Marine grade UV resistant plastic) or bronze. Seacocks let in raw sea water to operate the toilet and open and close with a ball valve via a lever. Seacocks that fail are the reason a large majority of vessels sink so it's important to check and replace them. They should be double clamped with marine grade hose clamps and always use marine grade waste hose. You should seal them/bed them with 3M 5200 and make sure they have a square mounting block on the inboard side screwed and epoxy glued. Always shut off seacocks when you leave the boat and if you are sailing on a windward incline and at launch. They should be checked every winter! Good Luck! Tom/Ipswich MA
