Q: null Would this work for a Catalina 250? Although the chines are soft, the bottom is relatively flat. The trailer bunks are under this flat part. I could place the two rear stands under the transom, which is a strong place for them. If the bunks can be under this flat part of the boat, then I assume the rear stands can be as well. I would just need to be careful of tipping the boat until I put blocking under it, or additional boat stands. The boat only displaces 3250 lbs (it is the water ballast swing keel model). I live by a small lake that is far away from any proper marinas and need a way to access the underside of my boat for maintenance.

A: It's not likely it will fit your sailboat hull. It has to mount to the trailer frame and the bunks are pretty far inboard. I think you would be better off with jack stands and keel blocks.

A: Hey Ron, Thank you for reaching out. While it is mainly used Motor/powerboats, there are certain sailboat profiles that it can be used with. However, I do hear what you're saying and will share your feedback with the web team so they can look into it.

Q: null I have a 31' that weighs 7000#.....I have other jacks for back. I just need to lift the front to remove the trailer. It appears this lifts the front up which should hardly weigh anything near the weight of 5000# since I am only lifting the front. Just wondering what the weight capacity means?? will it lift a complete boat that weighs 5000#?? or if I am picking up just the front to lift off of trailer, will this work??

A: Regardless of where the weight is located in the boat, the load will be evenly distributed over the contact points. Say you have a 5000 boat with a block under the keel at the stern, the two balancing stands aft and the beam forward. The forward beam is supporting @ 1250 lbs Total boat weight should not exceed 5000 pounds. Bear in mind if you are going by manufacturer specs for your boat weight, you also have to add the weight of outboard engines, fuel, water and gear on board. I recommend you place blocks under the keel near the bow to back up the forward beam after you pull the trailer out.
