The Shrinkfast 998 Heat Gun is lightweight at just 2 pounds 2 ounces. It's ergonomic design permits extended use without discomfort, as it is perfectly balanced and features a cool combustor for operator comfort.

This extremely durable heat gun provides adjustable power ranging from 134,000 BTU/HR @ 15 PSI to 212,000 BTU/HR @ 30 PSI. Great for shrink wrap jobs and other tasks that call for a powerful heat tool.

Shrinkfast has improved upon the 975 in several ways beyond making it lighter and more comfortable to use. Perfect Shrinkwrap Gun!

Perfect shrinkwrap gun. Can be used used commercially as well. I've owned two of these guns through my 20 years as a marine technician. Have used other guns and shrinkfast definitely the best.

Nice Gun

I don't have anything else to compare this gun to but it does work well and has plenty of power. No complaints. For some reason, the adjustment knob has a locknut on it. Seems unnecessary but it works.

Good Heat Gun

Gun works well however it does allow the propane to leak out slowly when it is shut off. You can watch the pressure slowly bleed off. Also the pressure adjustment knob won't move unless you back off on the brass nut that locks it in place. Seems unusual since I have torches and other high pressure gauges that don't need lock nuts.

RAVE REVIEWS AT THE BOAT CLUB

I HAVE BEEN SHRINKWRAPING BOATS FOR 13 YEARS. WITH THE OLDER TORCH, NO MATTER HOW CAREFUL YOU WERE, AFTER THE JOB WAS FINISHED, YOU SPENT TIME PATCHING HOLES IN THE MATERIAL. USING THE NEW STYLE GUN IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BLOW A HOLE THROUGH THE 7MIL MATERIAL. THAT IS IMPORTANT ESP. WHEN COVERING TALL BOATS THAT REQUIRE USE OF EXTENSION POLES. WORK GOES MUCH FASTER AND WHEN SECURING THE BOTTOM SECTION OF THE COVER, YOU CAN BOND THE MATERIAL TO THE BANDING TO HOLD THE WRAP IN PLACE EVEN WHEN THE WIND IS A FACTOR ONLY CON IS THE COST OF THE EXTENSION POLE, WE RESOLVED THAT ISSUE BY BUYING A STANDARD PAINTING POLE AT LOWES. THEN YOU JUST NEED TO USE A TYE-WRAP AROUND THE TRIGGER. DON'T MAKE THE TYE-WRAP TIGHT AS YOU NEED TO SLIDE IT UP OVER THE TRIGGER WHEN YOU WANT TO USE THE GUN

Great product when it lights

Great product when you get it to fire. I bought this one because I use the same one at work. Used to be able to take it home and use it. All I had to do was buy my own film ( which I used to buy through work also ) and propane. To shrink my pontoon boat, patio furniture, lawn tractor and my fire wood for the next years burn, ( beats any tarp you can buy! ) New management stopped that . So I bought my own. Same model, just don't work the same. The igniter is junk ! Some times it has taking as many as 20 or 30 strikes to get it to light. Hoping it gets better the more it's used. But it is not looking good on that hope. Not sure if I would recommend this to anyone.

Great tool easy to use. Ignitor works best if you pull the trigger slowly. Makes wrapping your boat a snap.

Just what I wanted......

It is a good thing that I have used one of these before because the instructions that came with the gun are a joke! Shrink fast people take the time to make a better instruction book.Take some colored pictures and explain in detail how to set the gun up with an LP tank. I had some issues about the regulator and how it works that where not explained in the booklet and if I had not used one before( a friends gun) I would of been cueless. Everything else is top notch with this product.

Q: For highway trailer transport, any tips for applying heat to the shrink wrap on exterior hull to avoid damage or adhesion to the full hull length of an 8"" width of teak molding that has had 3 coats of Cetol?

1 Answer

A: Heat from the gun will bubble varnished or painted surfaces. Cover the finish with foam sheets and avoid getting to close to the finish with the heat gun. You can heat around it but not over it.

Q: The regulator dial is bent inside plastic and needle will not give true reading as it hangs up on metal guage. Can this part be replaced or how do you fix it? Does top come off ?

A: I have put mine away but if I take it out I will let you know. I have seen this happen in other tank gauges and usually the plastic cover fell off and it happened when the protection was removed. Just straighten it out with jewelers needle nose or order another from company These items are sold separately as this happens a lot

Q: Hi, i never used this equipment, i will be using it to locate delamination on boats hulls with an infrared camera when condition cant drive the temp difference i need. my question is; how can i use it with out damaging the hull with the flame or heat too much? Norberto Villanueva 787-409-3427

A: I really don t think you should use the heat gun for this purpose. It is very powerful and you WILL DAMAGE the hull. Consider a torch ( any hardware store). It is less radical.
