COVERAGE: 185 mL coverage is 15 linear feet at a 1/4 in. diameter bead.

NOTE: Thixo cartridges have a slightly offset nozzle that fits most, but not all, caulk guns. Caulking applicators used with Thixo need to have a hole large enough for the mixing tip; cartridges won't fit applicators with only a small hole for the nozzle. For best results, use a caulk gun with an 8 to 1 thrust ratio or higher.

yes, i would buy this if I needed it.

easy to use. Not a lot of material in the tube due to two-part self-mixing. Not as cost-effective as mixing it yourself. very controllable so you don't make a mess filling joints.

very user friendly but expensive !

This is a very easy to use product with a well thought out self mixing system that dispenses very nice , clean and controllable and has a resealable screw on cap. But it is very expensive for the amount you get. It looks like a full size tube but is only about half filled approx 6 oz. or so ? Had a decent amount of setup / working time and cured well and was easy to sand the next day. it,s a good product for certain applications like squirting into holes etc. and it clings and stays put where you put it !

Something is Wrong!

I have been using Thixo for years, and it was always a great product. Until now. Recent batch of six purchased 14Apr23 left me with pockets of uncured or partially cured resin throughout my project. I am always very careful to start each tube correctly. Something else is wrong. Either the new green mixing tips are faulty or there were air pockets in the hardener tube resulting in improper mix ratio or none at all. While pumping the product with Newborn 18:1 gun, there were moments of reduced effort required. Product was warm when applied. I cannot recommend this product until problem is identified and corrected.

Great product, just need a tag. See below

The catalyst was not full and when you mix you must waste 5"" of dispensed product to get proper mix. Hard to trust the mixer. I had to tear a product apart and start over. If you get the correct mix the material sets up as designed.

Once cured this epoxy is rock solid but…

So this product is great but it says it's no sag and sets up in 30 minutes with a 24 hour cure time. It didn't quite work out like that. But aside from a little last minute adjusting to support my project this stuff bonds great once cured. I would strongly recommend it to anyone.

If you need some epoxy and don't feel like dragging out the two part bottles and mixing up a batch, buy this product. It works fast, it is easy to use, and can be resealed. I always have a couple of tubes on hand so I can quickly get a small job done. It us worth every penny when you are trying to get things done quickly.

Product is easy to work with. Used a better gun from Home Depot and had no problem dispensing it. I have many small projects going on so I should have ordered more tips. Kind of pricey and all brands are but no measuring or mixing makes it worth the cost. I used this after a friend, who repairs boats, recommended it.

I have a wood , metal clad patio door that was rotting from the inside. It would have been $2000 to replace. Watching Lou Sauzedde gave me the confidence to try an Epoxy repair for the first time. Since the exterior metal cladding was in good shape, I attacked the repair from inside, removing all the rotted wood and replacing it with new wood coated in LV This and bedded in 2:1. It worked like a charm and we finished off with total Fair. Saved $1900 in the process.

Rebuilding a 1988 Boston Whaler, one of the things that was in need of replacement was a damaged rub rail. Once the old rub rail was removed the previous owner did not seal the old pop rivet holes. Called Jamestown and talked to Tom who recommend Thixo, product work well both vertically and horizontally, no sagging or shrinkage. Easy to work with and forgiving. Great customer support. Will purchase products from Jamestown in the future.

Handy for medium-size jobs

I obtained a tube of Thixo to bond sole boards together for my wineglass wherry. Thixo is an ideal consistency, so it can be applied to surfaces without concern for it oozing out of position before it cures. And, it will tie together surfaces with too much clearance, up to perhaps 3/16"". My no. 1 concern was getting the two parts to mix properly. I squeezed out a ribbon of three inches to start the mixing. And when I checked that ribbon a couple of hours later, it had not started to set. So, when the instructions say ""three to four inches"" of priming, I will in the future not scrimp. I noticed that Thixo seemed to take several hours to start to set. However, by the next morning it was setting nicely, and a day later it was firm. Because of the need to squander expensive stuff to prime the output, when faced with a need for just a few dabs of glue a couple days later, I mixed regular resin with some filler. In retrospect, I should have controlled my miserly urge to conserve, and just squandered another mixing nozzle and a buck's worth of wasted resin. All in all, Thixo did a nice job, and it was handy having a mixing tube and nozzle combined with a caulking gun. The relatively slow curing rate means there is plenty of time to get large pieces coated and positioned.

This product has saved me money.

I have a older wood frame house and garage. The couple from whom we purchased the house were very old and had let the property go down hill a little. When I was repairing the garage siding, I noticed a lot of water damage to the sill plate. I dug out the damage wood and coated as best as I could with wood hardener. The next day, I filled the voids with Thixo. It took right much, but it was money well spent. It takes a while to cure, but the results are worth it. I have seen a comment or two about the viscosity and difficulty getting it out of the tube. I do have an 8:1 caulk dispenser, and I have absolutely no problem with flow.

Epoxy works very well and easy to dispense. Need to let folks know, volume is only half a tube. If l was using more than half a tube, l would mix my own epoxy and thicken it. Your basically looking at $42 bucks for a full tube of mixed epoxy. Too costly in my mind.

Super convenient, and good thickness...

I have been using this product a lot for various things....not just on the boat. The consistency is always the same and doesn't droop....so much easier than mixing your own epoxy with cabosil. I don't often use the mixing tips, but when I do it is hard to squeeze out using a normal caulk gun. Not sure if there is a MACK daddy caulk gun that gives extra leverage, but get one if you are going to use the tips. Sadly the tips are a throw away item, and you lose a bit of epoxy doing that. How I use it mostly is without the tip and mix the stuff in tray and spackle it on where I need it. for gluing parts together I mix equal parts on one side of the part, trowel lines using a 3/32"" trowel teeth and then clamp the two pieces together....that gives me a consistent thickness of glue.

Solution to Mix an old batch.

This product is great, but it does not have a good shelf-life. SO, use it within a few months of purchase. I tried to use an old tube (probably over a year old), and the material had a lot of thick chunks in it, so it just jammed up the mixing nozzle. When the mixing tube jambs up, it becomes very difficult to squeeze out with the gun. Solution is to remove the mixing nozzle, squeeze out all the remaining product into a mixing cup, and mix it by hand with a mixing stick (both resin and hardener). Put the mixed batch into a small plastic bag, close it up, cut the bag tip, and squeeze out the mixed product from the tip of the plastic bag. Messy, but it's a way to save and use the remaining supply. Setup time is about an 45 min, so work quickly.

Q: Will this thixo bond to marine plywood after it has been coated with total boat penetrating epoxy?

1 Answer

A: Hi there. Yes, this product can bond to properly cured and prepped marine plywood treated with penetrating epoxy. After the penetrating epoxy has been applied, it needs to cure for 5-7 days. After cure, it must be washed with warm water, soap, and a scotch-brite pad, sanded with 220 grit paper, and cleaned with denatured alcohol or another suitable solvent before applying the Thixo over the top.

A: Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. While we normally sell extra mixing tips by themselves, we are currently running low on stock and only have enough on hand to fulfill orders with the Thixo cartridges, so we are not selling the tips separately. However, the West System Six10 tips do fit Thixo cartridges and you can buy those separately here: https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/product/product-detail/52008 Just be sure to select the ""Static Mixer Nozzle Only"" option from the drop-down menu.
