when the package got here the first thing I did was check the expiration date on the tubes. The product expired two days after I received it. It's obvious all you cared about was getting rid of stale product. I considered sending it back but since I had already paid to have it shipped I didn't want to pay twice. I realized this was really a cheap lesson. You are not a company I want to do business with.I will never use your company again.

Q: Would this be the best choice for resealing interior joints of exterior RV bays. flexibility is needed as well as sealing due to water migration from water splashed up while driving and possible flexing of bays during travel.

A: Sika has an extensive catalog of tech info. Try a search to find it. They make everything from windshield sealant to boat adhesives.

Q: Can this be painted with oil based paint? I have used other marine sealants that interacted poorly with finish paint and kept the paint from drying.

A: My follow-up: Once again I bought a polyurethane based sealant hoping it would be paintable. IT IS NOT! I coated a bunch of test coupons, let them dry and then painted them with a one part topside paint. I also painted the coupon substrate with the same paint. The coated coupons were tacky and did not dry, while the paint on the substrate dried just fine. Glad I tested this as the job involves caulking twenty windows on an expensive customer yacht.

Q: Could I use this instead of standard caulk, to seal between a bathtub and the ceramic tile? It's a commercial application (dog grooming) where the tub gets heavy use and heavy cleaning. I have a hard time getting any caulk to stand up to this harsh environment.

A: I have only used this product to glue together the seams in rubber horse stall mats. I use it because it bonds with the rubber mats. It has been in service for several years in rough conditions - no problems at all. It might work between a bathtub and ceramic tile, but I have no experience with getting it to bond to these types of materials.

Q: Your Question: Does Sika Caulk need to be painted over? One contractor told us it needed to be within 6 months of using it to caulk the exterior of our house. Another contractor assure us it was not necessary for it to remain water-tight and bonded to surfaces (around windows and door jams). Please clear this up for us. Thank you, C. Wolber

A: As far as I know, the black Sikaflex 227 Fast Curing Adhesive Sealant is UV-resistant and doesn't need to be painted to remain watertight. However, the color will likely fade.

A: I use Sikaflex in our dog daycare. We sanitize and wet/dry vacuum the floor daily, and have never painted it. As long as you don't mind the black color. However, this is indoors, not sure how UV would effect over the long term.

Q: can i use this product on concrete ?

A: Yes, it works very well on concrete. I used it to fill in a crack between a concrete front landing and stucco house. It filled in smoothly and kept water from seeping in. It still looks good 4-5 years later.
