Product Details

Blue Sea Systems Add a Battery Charger and Switch Package is a complete battery bank management solution, includes the Dual Circuit Plus battery switch and the SI Series automatic charging relay.

The switch can be surface or rear panel mounted. E-Series selectors allow users to switch between two battery banks simultaneously with one simple ON/OFF switch while maintaining battery bank isolation, minimizing the risk of a dead Starting battery. The BOTH function offers the ability to combine the two battery banks in parallel, in the event of a cold start that may require higher cranking amps.

The 120 amp SI-Series Automatic Charging Relay allows temporary isolation of house loads from engine circuit during engine cranking to protect sensitive electronics. It activates from any charging source and is ignition protected making it safe for gasoline applications.

Q: I would like to use this in a bass boat to eliminate parasitic draw on batteries when stored and to be able to protect my engine if batteries happen to be low; by using this switch. My question is with your typical 1- cranking and 2- trolling batteries with onboard 3 bank charger where would i install the ACR and the switch? Behind the 3 bank charger? And do you connect the charger to the switch or leave it tied to batteries? Also if i connect the switch to one of the paralleled trolling batteries to use as an emergency cranking battery will this ACR spread charge between all three batteries since 2 of these are connected in parallel.

Q: Can this battery package be used with a generator system, which doesn't charge at very low rpms?

A: My 'system' is hooked up to a shore power battery charger/tender as well as the engine charging system. This system wil charge your start battery first then automatically charge your reserve or house battery. When switch is off the charger takes over charging both. I'm not sure what your concern is but as long as you're putting current out your batteries will be charged no matter if you're using a generator or whatever.

Q: Do the batteries have to be identical? or one for the cca for motor and another for house battery?

A: That is not really an Automatic Charging Relay (ACR) issue . It will work with mismatched batteries, but they may not charge properly. The ACR does away with the need for a high CCA battery. You are getting full use of both batteries until their combined voltage drops below 12.5. Then the ACR seperates or isolates them. That way leaving a light on all night won't kill your starting battery. It will still have a hefty 12.5 charge sitting on the shelf waiting for you. In my boat I try to keep the batteries equal in every way so that a weaker doesn't drain the stronger and the charging cycles are more or less equal. If you want a starting battery and a deep cycle battery I would recommend one of the new __quote__smart__quote__ chargers and manually Turn the ACR off during the charge cycle. Dave
