The Megaware KeelGuard attaches to powerboat keels to provide protection against abrasive sand, rocks, concrete ramps, oyster beds and other underwater hazards.
Similar in concept to a traditional sacrificial rub strake used on dinghies for dragging up the beach, KeelGuards easily attach to your boat with a strong adhesive bond and readily adapt to hull contours for seamless protection.
Unprotected keels risk incurring gelcoat damage. Even small dings in gelcoat finishes can allow moisture intrusion that ultimately damages fiberglass laminates. Not just a protective device, KeelGuards also maximize efficient water flow to maintain like-new performance like top speed, handling, and tracking on smaller boats and personal watercraft.

KeelGuards are generally mounted 4 to 6 inches above the waterline on the bow, ending 2 to 3 feet beyond the lowest point of the keel. Everything needed to professionally install is included, and step-by-step instructions are located under the links section of this page.
Note: If your trailer is designed such that the entire weight of the boat rests on rollers or a support beam along the keel, we do not recommend installing a KeelGuard. If the rollers can be lowered or the side bunks raised to clear the keel protector, the adhesive bond will not be compromised. May not be suitable for some aluminum boats with reinforced rib design.
See instructions to achieve proper high strength bond to hull surface.
