Product Details
Weld Mount AT-8040 is a high-strength, 2-part adhesive, designed to bond metals in severe environments. Advanced adhesive formula bonds objects without sliding or sagging, even on vertical and overhead surfaces.
This multi-bonder cures incredibly quickly: At room temperature, with little surface prep, it establishes a handling strength within 12 minutes and a functional cure within 45 minutes, creating a lasting bond with superior strength (2,500 lbs. strength in 40 minutes). This solvent-free and VOC-compliant adhesive works with most metals, plastics, and composite surface.
Note: Apply AT-8040 with the AT-300 Adhesive Dispensing Gun (sold separately) for an even 1:1 ratio. Also available in a 30 ml dual syringe. Purchase the AT-850 mixing tips separately for use with the AT-8040 cartridge. Mixing tips are available in packages of 10 or 50.

You know as the old saying goes. There is a right tool for a job, this is it. I recently re-rigged a whole boat. Weld mount had a Specific mount for any issue that I encountered. From stainless studs to zip tie mounts. The glue is Incredibly strong and sets up fast. Perfect for attaching wire and hoses.

No way to use this

The picture of this product shows a typical red plastic plunger. However the product did not ship with this plunger, rendering the product unusable. I do not need the expensive ""gun"" that is more suited to someone using this product daily. That is why I ordered this one with the built in plunger.

Adhesive seems to work as advertised

Used Weld Mount adhesive to hang bins and racks on the ceiling of our boat with Weld Mount large headed threaded studs. When mixed, the adhesive has a consistency similar to toothpaste or smooth peanut butter so the threaded studs stick well where placed. Pot life allowed me to mix a batch then place 8 or so mounts at a time. This project is now about 10 months old and has survived through one winter outside of Atlanta well so couldn't ask for more.

Q: Could I use quick weld to mount a swim step on a Boston whaler Montauk ?. If so what adhesive would I use? Has anyone done this?

A: I don't believe it would be safe to use in that application. I have never seen a platform that was not fastened mechanically. Whaler has wood molded into the transom to accept fasteners for a swim platform. If you contact Whaler with your HIN or the serial number stenciled in the transom they will send you a wood location diagram.

Q: From what I've read in the related technical specifications, the recommended application temperature range for AT-8040 is between 65and 80 degrees F. Does ""application"" in this context refer to the ""dispensing and curing"" of the adhesive or to the ""usage after curing""? I'm considering this for use with the stainless steel studs (ST125-1420-40SS) for mounding a steel sign (14 gauge or 1/8"") to a wood backing. The sign will hang vertically on an exterior, south-facing wall and I'm concerned about shear and peel characteristics after prolonged exposure to sun, wind, rain, and UV light. Thank you
