It was relatively easy for a diy er to install. however no instructions was a con. Just make sure you order the right one which I didn't.

Q: Is there a replacement lid for a 2"" ergo sea strainer that has a valve and hose connection to flush the heat exchanger with fresh water?
a year ago1 Answer
A: Hey Dennis. Unfortunately we don't carry a part like this off the shelf. I have seen some custom adapters that can do it, but they're homemade parts. I recommend calling Perko directly to see if they've ever made anything like this. Their number is 305.621.7525.

A: Hi we are going to need the Intake Strainer model number to be sure we recommend the correct basket. Please email us at info@jamestowndistributors.com. The model number should be stamped on the product or on the sight glass.

Q: I have an older 0493/500 Perko water strainer. I need to replace a hinged bronze bolt. I called Perko and asked how to replace the bolt. They didn't know. It doesn't appear to be held by a set screw or anything at the top cap of the strainer. Please advise, I like to know prior to ordering. Thanks in advance.

A: I'm surprised you got that response from Perko. If yours is similar to mine, there's what is called ""roll pin"" that allows the cover to open and close. You need to use a punch that is slightly smaller in diameter than the opening where the roll pin fits and gently tap on the center punch with a hammer to drive it out. The roll pin will probably be pretty well seated, so it may take several taps with your hammer to break it loose. Then, you can continue pushing the old roll pin out with your punch. The punch MUST BE SMALLER IN DIAMETER THAN THE ROLL PIN HOLE in order to drive it out. Once the roll pin is broken loose, you might need to use a nail that is smaller in diameter than the roll pin hole in order to continue pushing the roll pin out, depending on how long your punch is. Don't push on the roll pin with the point of the nail. Grind it flat, otherwise you'll end up actually expanding the roll pin rather than driving it out. If you order a replacement kit, you'll get a new roll pin. At least I did. Hope this helps. Tom H.

Q: For the 493-500 series Perko Sea Strainer, I need to replace the hinged bolts. I bought from my local distributor the 0493DP799L. These bolts are too short. Would like to know before ordering if the 0493DP599L hinged bolts are longer than the previous.
6 years ago1 Answer
A: Hi Carol, the 0493DP799L is specified for the 1-1/4"" sea strainer. I'm not sure what the actual lengths are, that information is not posted anywhere, but your part number from what we can see here would be 0493DP599L. 0493-500 is the model number that you have, and 99L is the specific hinged bolt part number.
