Great paint, Improved spray can performance

I have been applying this to my outboard bracket for the last few years, given we keep the boat in a slip all season long. The paint performs very well - it does exactly what it is meant to do. A lot of reviews complain about the spray can mechanism failing, which is a problem I have faced in the past. This year however the can I purchased from Jamestown working flawlessly through several uses. I may have just gotten lucky, but it seemed to me the manufacturer had sufficiently addressed problems with the can.

save your money

been using this product for over ten years and each and every year I hope that it will work. IT NEVER DOES. I still get barnacles, and all the salt water smoelly all over my out drive. I should learn to save my $ and forget about the out drive paint.

Barnacles still cling

Sprayed bronze prop on sailboat moored Long Island Sound. Four months later, a dive below showed barnacles and other growth attached firmly. Whereas cheap ablative paint (containing copper) applied on rest of bottom worked well in keeping critters off.

It definitely works to keep outdrives clear of barnacles. Simple to use but wish it were made in clear.

Q: WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM RECOMMENDED PERIOD BETWEEN APPLICATION OF PRIMOCON PRIMER ON ALUMINUM STERN DRIVE AND PROP, TILL I APPLY TRILUX 33? CAN THE PERIOD BETWEEN APPLICATION OF PRIMER, THEN ANTIFOULING BE ONE MONTH APART? AND FROM THE TIME I APPLY ANTI FOULING, WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE PERIOD TILL I LAUNCH THE BOAT? IF ONE MONTH FROM ANTIFOULING TO LAUNCH, DOES THE ANTIFOULING EFFECTIVENESS IN SALTWATER DIMINISH CONSIDERABLY?

A: Hello Tony. Instructions say maximum 30 day between coats or immersion. Is best if you can time it since this product works better when not exposed to air, they advise not putting above the water line. You can always contact them directly too. Not sure on how much effectiveness is lost. I've seen it flake where not immersed in water.

Q: I have been told this product will prevent or reduce Zebra Muscles from attaching to my outdrives. Is this true? I know there used to be some outdrive paint that would provide resistance to Zebra Muscles but I believe the EPA banned it due to copper content.
