Circa 1850 Exterior Varnish

I used the varnish on outdoor furniture that has a lot of sun, wind and rain exposure even though it is on a covered porch. Also, we are about a block from the ocean. I selected this product because polyurethane hasn't stood up to the elements. I will say the varnish is easy to apply and dries to a beautiful glossy finish. The instructions were to let it dry for at least a day, and lightly sand and apply another coat. When I checked it after a day, I wasn't sure it was dry enough, so I actually waited for three days. Even then, the finish did not seem hard. I have now applied a second coat and may opt for a third. I am happy with what I am seeing so far, but it will be a year or so before I will know what I really think. And by the way, like my headline says, it is very smelly, so it's good that I was using it outdoors.

This product goes on very easy. It doesn't run as easy as most varnishes. It smoothens itself out and needs very little sanding.

Always use this product,the only complaint I had ,ordered two guarts and the second one didn't come for another month

Applies nicely straight from the can and leveled off nicely as well.The sheen is a little glossier than described but for exterior this is not a problem.This is my first timing using this product so I will follow up later on it's performance but I am expecting very good results.Reasonably priced as well.

I used this product on outdoor benches I have built and on antique farm equipment I have restored. The product looks great, applies well and the prices is reasonable compared to other products out there. Now the proof is in the pudding after spending a new england winter outside.

We were looking for a good exterior varnish to use on carts for antique stationary engines. These products are just not readily available in our area. This varnish so far seems to be the best choice!

The cheapest but simply the best! Forget the expensive stuff.

The best marine varnish I ever used on the exterior of a house.The gloss finish looks great no scratches from walking on them everyday and its going on 3 years.
